my name is Kevin Hönscheid, I'm from Germany, 23 years old and a mechanical engineering student.
I thought I would be reporting regularly this year from my Autoslalom championship in Germany.
I'm starting in the class for modified cars up to 1600 ccm with my Zetec-S,
which I built together with my Dad, who drove STT, VLN, 24-h and Hillclimbs with the racecars he developed and build himself.
Unfortunately I only got 113 bhp and some of the other cars in this class have 140 bhp +. It's all a matter of getting more power approved by the local authorities which is a crux in Germany... And you need this approvement of road-legallity for starting in the class.
I'm starting together with my Dad.

First the championship and it's rules.
Slalom is a time-attack type of race.
Each driver races individually and alone.
Usually it takes place on big traffic-training facilities, huge parking lots or small airports.
There will be a fixed course you have to drive as fast as possible.
This course is set with pylon alleys and gates as well as some stating the side which you have to go around. One pylon lying with its big bottom facing to one standing beside ( like this: <|/\
) means for example "drive right" and like this /\|> means "drive left".
You have to get through the full course one or more times which depends on it's lenght.
There are Slaloms of under 1500 meters and over 1500 meters.
For each pylon you knock over you will get 3 sec on top of your time. leaving out a gate or driving around the wrong side means a harsh 15 sec on top.
As 3 secs are a world already you better have a clean lap.
I'm driving in the so called Class F9.
F means it is for modified cars and according to the regulations really a lot can be changed. Engine wise you may change everything before the throttle body, which needs to stay standard as well as the inlet manifold. You can freely modify the engine internals as well as the exhaust system.
Without going into too much details here the rest of the car can nearly be modified at will but you have to keep the upper part of the dashboard and your heating system.
The main Problem is that all of these things need to be road legal, which in Germany means someone like your MOT-Testers needs to approve every single part that has been changed and only if that is possible you may drive the car legally like it is on the street and due to the regulations in this class F.
In Germany this approvement ceased over time and due to strict watch from the higher ups a lot of testers simply wont approve of good modified Stuff anymore. I mean, if an exhaust rattles and defo is too loud, ok, no problem if it does not get approved, or if the brakes are crap and so on.
But if you use just the best quality parts and even then if the tester says "WOW what a extremely nice and good built car!".... in the next sentence he says: " I can't approve of that!" and you ask "Why?" and he just says without a real reason but worries about his job "I just can't, if anything happens they'll rob me of my license!"
This is a trend due to cheap tuning and accidents because of that. Therefore it gets very difficultto get things street legal nowaday here in Germany.
Long story short, after asking a lot of people and crying blood and tears why I have built something like that for the street my car is, as it stands, completely legal and therefore within regulations for class F.
The planned engine upgrades:
I already got a baffled sump here from Shawspeed as well as a lightweight flywheel supplied by TTV Racing Components.
I just didn't have the time to fit them.
I also wanted to upgrade the engine output with a worked head and some nice cams such as SS4's. I already had quotes from Jon.
BUT I need to get them approved
and since we have some nice EU regulations regarding exhaust gas regulations nobody wants to simply approve of the more BHP since the car pollutes the air a lot more than standard...
And since that is the case I need to wait for more power until I find someone to get it approved....

The car was built in house by WH-Motorsport, which means mostly me and my dad.
