Ok, the Rockingham write up never appeared then maybe I'll do it myself at some point.
Second Rally today, the Tour of Caerwent, and an absolutely awesome performance from Matt and Tom, really so very proud. 3rd in Class (a class of 22 cars) and 9th overall (of 100 entries), amazing result!! Only beaten by one other MK2 Escort, that of Pete Rayner, who is very experienced and seriously quick, and a Darrian T90 (a kit quite basically for those who don't know). The Darrian just pipped Matt by 7 seconds on the last stage which was a bit of a bummer, but still an undeniably outstanding result on what is a notoriously difficult and car destroying event.
I will do a seperate write up on another thread when I'm not so bloody tired!
Well done Matt my pal was doing it in his Mini Metro and if you had quite a high seeding you went past him like you had a rocket up your arse!
You did well to stay away from those Kerbs there i dont think i will ever do that rally im to happy with the back hanging out so ill stick to the loose!! Peter is a quick old boy and is a similar spec to yours now he has spent a few quid recently on a gearboxes! So get some more experience and you will be a top runner!!

I remember him well mate, was amusing watching him desperately trying to get round the corner to get out of my way, please pass on my thanks to him for being such a gent. He was driving the door handles off it, it was on 3 wheels most of the time!!! I did notice the Wickford Motor Club sticker and thought I'd seen it on a car I know..... it's your mk6
Well some will say it's a miracle that I've actually got round to updating my own thread
I actually remebered to use my camera for once!!
I've got my new Ohlins dampers for the front to match my rears now.
Rears are 2 way, seperate bump and rebound adjustment but I went the whole hog and went for 3 way fronts, seperate high and low speed bump and rebound adjustment. They use a Bilstein casing with all new Ohlins internals. I supplied my Gartrac top mounts and they did the rest.
Canisters are now mounted in a similar place but on proper mounts, not just cable tied to the bonnet hinge like some I have seen. This pic was taken before but it was too dark by the time I had finished
They sit up the back to keep them out of the way and hopefully stay clean.
I also got my new Carbonfibre strut brace from SP racing, looks really nice. Cheers Shaun
Big thanks to Steve at SBD for helping me spec the dampers and do the necessary mods to get the right castor adjustment on the top mount, onto the next rally now. Tom and I are planning on doing a couple of pace note events either over Otterburn or Epynt. I looks forward to getting some air now it's got better damping
I'll get some better pictures tomorrow when it's light
Let me know what Epynt event you fancy and ill come and have a play and we can share a chase car and do the wrecky together to save abit of money if you like!!
