        Re: merc 190E

we managed the 1hr race at snetterton after some last minute changes to the clutch, which decided to slip,

got down to the 1.13 sec whcih is not bad on long distance hard slicks,

got hold of some 30 minute slicks so perfect for the track and race as they have two short races,

we where using the hard slicks at silverstone against birley, and could match him but with his power he was faster on the straights,

the next round is brands indi in two weeks,

we are booked in but birley is trying to keep us out and has put us on the reserve list, hopefully we will get on and give him a run for his money as they are not the straights of silverstone for him to run away,

the merc has a 2.5 litre cosworth engine wet sumped, and revs to 10k made 387 bhp on the dyno

mated with a x track six speed dog box with different racios to suit the track,

ulta close so it sounds like a suqenual box put its not, but changes nearly as quick,

980 kilos all up and very wide with good downforce helps it along,

          ,

must say as a committee member of the organising club, i could take offense to that, the championship is run by its co-ordinator and the committee not Rod, you are way down on the reserve list after only entering 1 DTRC race all season, eveyone above you on the reserve list has either done more races or entered sooner, the selection was quite clear and above board.

the more cars out there to give rod a run for his money the better, but just because you have a fast car doesn't entile you to get an entry ahead of those who have constantly supported the championship or entered before you

            sorry to rock your boat,

only joking, we are not that bothered,

supprised to get on resverve list as we put our entry in very early but i do understand there is only limited room at brands with only one race and not the two classes you have been running this year, and people who have done more rounds will bump us,

we are planning to do the next three rounds at brands in track and race but if we dont get on then so be it,

there is allways next year for a full season attack.

                          Re: merc 190E

yer but i was not driving,

                          my co-driver was greg rose,

greg did the silverstone round to get his licence signed so we can race abroad,

the funny thing is greg was bedding in a new set of our endurance slicks at silververstone, so we where not exspecting to be that quick on such hard rubber,

i have been driving in the brit car races, with him,

not bad hey greg gets to borrow my car,

gregs own car is being repaired and he did track and race last year so i lend him my car, he does all maintenance ect as he runs X sports southampton outfit,

so it all works out well,

i am planning to do some sprint races with the merc but this will proberly be the lma saloons where it would race against mainley supertourers ect,

greg wants to do the brands rounds in track and race to give rod a run for his money, still makes great viewing!

i am more known for owning these cars,

                            its a sierra thing lol

they dont come out much so the merc was bought by me to race something interesting but still fast enough to be exciting,

I suppose if the BTCC super tourers were around 150bhp/litre then that figure for a 2.5 is about spot on. That must be getting close to the limit for an N/A 4 pot.

Bet the engine needs plenty of fettling and servicing to stay at such a high state of tune, no wonder it was so quick at Silverstone despite eating the scenery
