    Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2

I've seen the light, and have located a 2.0 Duratec and IB5 gearbox for the Fiesta.

The existing 2.0 Zetec-E engine will be sold, as will the new 2.0 Zetec-E engine 'in build'.

I plan to do the Performance Ford track session in July with the current engine, then I'll be at Ford Fair in August.

Then she'll be stripped right down, the Duratec shoe horned in, some small cosmetic changes to the front of the car, and I'll hopefully be out again in time for next years hillclimb/sprint championships. Thats that plan anyway.

        Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2

The screen was organised as a group buy on xrtwo.com
The first of the carbon bonnets should be coming this week, maybe next week at the latest. Another group buy, organised by me this time.

Collecting the engine and box from Chelmsford today. It only has 225 miles on the clock, and is out of a Fiesta ST150.

            Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2

Stripped the engine last night; removed power steering pump; air con pump; wiring loom and inlet manifold; water/oil heat exchanger; serpentine belt tensioner pulley; alternator.

Its looking more like an engine now.

            air con pump removed

            power steering pump removed

            inlet manifold removed

Inlet ports are huge; fuel injectors are mounted directly in the head, with its own fuel rail. When I fit throttle bodies, I'll see if I can retain the extra injectors to give me 8 in total. May not work like that though.

The exhaust manifold is a work of art; its a tubular manifold, made from mandrel bent tubing, which I may keep....

Tonight I'll remove the serpentine tensioner from the rear of the engine.

On the end of the head (over the gearbox) there is a hole for an EGR valve but its already blocked off on the ST with a blanking plate (good).

There is an intermediate drive shaft on the rear of the engine too, which I'm in two minds to keep or not.

The oil/water heat exchanger weighs about 1Kg so I dont think I'll be fitting that back on the car again.

As for 8 injectors thats what Steve at SBD used to get the 304 bhp out of the 2.0L, maybe worth having a chat with him ..

What did you reckon to Steve Pearson .. piss taking barsteward aint he

The Zetec block should be back from Chesman this week, and I'll then sell it with the new JE Pistons and Eagle rods as a short block 2.0. I need the money to start buying bits for the Duratec, such as alternator mount and front tensioner etc.

Stripping the engine is now complete, and she's ready to offer up in to the XR2 in August.

Doesn't look any bigger than the 2.0 Zetec. I'll take measurements (height etc) this evening.

I removed 31Kg of junk off the engine, but of course, I'll be adding weight as I bolt bits back on again.

Matt Downer was here last night .. needed a dry, warm and bright place to dummy build a bottom end of a pinto .. he carried the bottom end in , just had the crank installed and said ..
" this &^%$*" thing is heavier than my complete Duratec "

There is a pic somewhere of him carrying his whole engine

He was telling me that at Epynt. I've so got to see that picture.

Mind you, Matt looks strong enough to pick the whole car up. Does he have sponsorship from Shredded Wheat?

Here are the dimensions according to Ford.

Dry weight is 109KGs so the 31Kg I've removed has taken it down to around 78KG

I've attached the Ford PDF file for reference.
