    Nova Rally Car

    Hi there,

    Some of you may remember my MK2 Harrier rally car which I sold recently. I was going to have a year off until I spooted this Nova which at £3250 seemed a bargain to me so I bought it and my wife was thrilled!!! It has a good spec as follows;

Engine - new build 1300 motor with blydenstein head, kent cam, bronze guides, lightened and balanced conrod and flywheel, schmidt pistons, arp bolts twin 40 webers, decked block all with 0 miles on it.

Transmission - cr box with quickshift, quaiffe lsd, paddle clutch

Suspension - all new tarmac bilsteins front and back, polubushed everywhere

Brakes - Astra 16v brakes on the front with mintex 1144 pads(massive, wheels only barely clear them!!), sr brakes on the back with new shoes etc. Vertical hydraulic
    handbrake

Shell - very clean shell done very little work, only MSA logbooked in June, full cage with double diagonal. Sabelt seats etc.

Don't intend using it for a few months as have a baby due in feb so will wait until wifey is out of maternity and earning a few quid first but will be lovely to have something other than junk in the garage again!!

I don't love it as much as I did the escort but I think it's brilliant value for money and much higher spec so will have fun in it nonetheless

      Yeah, it's from Omagh originally.

Quite like it because the plate is quite weird.

Nice nova ,a very similar spec to my old sport/new nova should be a lot of fun to drive and pretty nippy for a 1300

Thanks everybody, i'm pleased with it. I started my rallying in Novas but haven't had such a good spec one before so looking forward to it.

                  Re: Nova Rally Car

Picked the car up yesterday, drove it the 144 miles from Slough to Bridgend and it was an extremely unpleasant noisy and hot trip!!

Made it home but about a mile from home the exhaust started blowing so already have something to sort but at least it's nothing major.

Engine feels really strong and it's obviously geared really low as the accelaration for a 1300 was really impressive, was not suited to M4 though!!

I know, it's not quite perfect but a nice size to fling down the jersey lanes in 2009 or 2010 perhaps?

                          Aaarggghh it's broke already!!

There is a cam follower and associated bits floating around the head!!!

I have fished the bits out and can't see any damage. Anyone know if kent supply these or if you have to buy a whole cam kit?

Has it got solid lifters as i had loads of problems with my kent stuff we had to weld the adjustable post to the head to stop it winding itself in and losing all valve clearance hope it makes sense my terminology is pribably wrong i know a chap who does a lot of these engines pm me if you want his contact details i know on some of his engines he adapts the standard stuff ,he reckons its more reliable

Bugger, sounds like it's going to be a pain then.

Got someone coming to sort it out tuesday. If he can't get it done i'll take those details from you.

                              Thanks
