I got a new challenge to sort out! Got 2 sets of nova gte wheels and astra 16v brakes on the front. For some reason one set of wheels clears the brakes perfectly and with the other set on they rub so badly the wheels barely turn.

Anybody ever had this problem before with "identical" sets of wheels?

It is running for the 1st time since february and sounds pretty sweet. Progress, Tracking, MOT, new tyres and go rallying at xmas now

Ave you sorted this little problem yet mate??

If not just check the back of the wheels as they made them in two types (same wheel design if that makes sense)one has a single lip and the other has a double lip (rim). The way round it is to take a grinder to the calipers and massage them to clear the wheel. Did this to mine unfortunately no pics

My stupidity often frustrates the PARA. One time he spent 45 mins on the phone trying to explain how to tie the car down to the trailer with ratchet straps. He knows now you've got to explain things to me without assuming the slightest bit of knowledge on my part and even then things are hit and miss at best!!

Making some progress car is running quite nicely and starts easily.

Trying to get ready for an MOT but the wiring is a complete mess, car has no reverse light, no brake lights and no switch under pedal for the brake lights so needs doing asap.

Also discovered that it didn't have a thermostat fitted!! That's sorted now.

Hopefully get an MOT in the next few weeks and then first rally should be Pembrey at Xmas

good luck on getting it ready 4 xmas stages, ill be down there, watching this year hopefully do my first pemprey next year, how strict are they on seats and harnesses, ive got road rally car so theyre out of date, cheers

Thanks, should be done I think.

Re seats and belts my understanding is out of date seats are fine but belts must be in date. May be wrong on this so best bet is to check blue book online. Come over and say hi of you're down there at xmas.

Rally cars are weird, car has been running great for a week now, new starter motor was going great, car starting on 1st turn of key but a week down the later and it won't start at all. Not even trying to turn over, battery is fine so it's a mystery. It's mystery for another day though, no enthusiasm for the bastard today!!

Never mind, maybe if I just go to bed and try it again tomorrow something magical will have happened and it will either be fixed or the garage will have burnt down and then I can buy another one wih the insurance money!!
