Remember - if you're going up the tank slopes, you take off before the reach top - so back off a few yards before you get there!!

Lovely thanks Chaps yeah ill be lifting off on the Tank Slopes one of Peter Maylums customers bent his Mk2 there on his first event out! His Escort must have been 6 feet in the air! The Pictures were fantastic but that was the end of his rally half way through the first stage!!

Everywhere else flat Ill try Paul Cheers!!

Well where do i start?

Not the best of days! Started ok ss1 and ss2 went well was on the pace was lying 29th OA and 2nd in class, ss3 was going well until we came to the 3rd lap 2nd split Dad called it has spilt right but board only had Lap1 + Lap2 on it so i said we have done to many laps and headed for the finish then there was some confusion and shouting in the car and then we came up behind car 15 so we knew i had come off to early!! My Fault!! Big mistake!!

So we knew we would get a stage max all we could hope for was the stage got cancelled, no such luck!

SS4 was really motoring caught and over took 2 cars and was really in the grove then got a puncher just after the 2nd split so nursed the car bar to service with hazards on luckly no one caught us!

SS5 went really well just we were just having alot of fun now sideways as much as possible where the camera crews were

SS6 in the Q for time control and the temp was creping up the fan wasnt working so turned back round to service, i thought the fan was knackered so didnt rush or panic checked the fuse was ok had 12vs so checked at the fan 0vs had a quick think thought the relay could be palying up so swaped it and as i pulled it out the fan kicked back in! So helmets on rushed to the SS managed to get out as the last car.
We were going really well still as sideways as much as possible the tyres were starting to get hot and going off i think headed up to the tank slope got to the top, long 3rd gear right hander smooth tarmac, drifting half way round then lost control, so now we are passengers, hard on the brakes and Handbrake going backwards towards the Big F*ck of Kerb!

BANG we are up on top of it! I was expecting to see the diff smashed and oil all over the floor, was very lucky the N/S well and suspension had taken most of the impact and bent the 4 link long bar and trailing arm. |When we took the wheel off there was a big section missing from the tyre but the rest of the tyre looked ok????? We hadnt been locking up so maybe the tyre tread broke up! Ill add a pic!

End of rally tho! On closer inspection today have got a crack on the rear chassis leg too!

But nothing horrible! All repairable could have been so much worse!

Hard luck Ash - is that 3rd pic of you showing the beginning of the off? I've had a very close encounter with those kerbs at the top of the tank ramps before too....

We were never in it to win it we enjoy our motorsport even if we have these problems better than being at home!

The 2nd pic is when ive got the flat tyre hence the hazzard lights are on, the 3rd pic with the dirft on may have been the stage when i went off but it was at the top of the tank slope on the table top where i hit the kerb! Maybe because we were on hard tyres and the were hot, becuase its smooth tarmac up there! Not making excuses just trying to undersatnd why i lost it had no problems giving it big balls everywere else jsut run out of grip i think!

Paul did Tommy Field have anything to do woth your Ka champ car??? I was there today and saw a pic in his office and looked abit like you on a finish ramp on the bonnet of a silver Ka.

Well done Ashley and Tudor great write up, shame about the result guys but at least you are out there driving the door handles off your car. I think I'm going to pluck up the courage to do at least one single venue this year, it looks so much fun.

Good link there Paul C Had a good watch, Mr Edwards get about a bit, I saw most of those guys at the Rockingham stages end of last year, might even do that event?? (also nice car, looks similar to another one I know)

Thanks Matt. Mr Edwards car is amazing. I was servicing next to him at Bovvy and i couldn't stop looking at it!! His service crew were even washing the wheels and wheel arches inbetween stages Do you know him/ the car? As i think he's up from your way somewhere.

You should aim to do Abingdon Carnival in June, you could do the sprint on the Saturday and the rally on the sunday.

That Edwards Escorts is nice, I agree...got some pictures of it at Longcross on Sunday. You can see he had some damage to the arch but did not seem to worry him.

Saw the car on the motorway on sunday looked nice and not as bent as you have said maybe i saw the good side
