Yes, Reg Berrie owned and ran it in the Isle of Man. Prior to that it was run in the Fordrallyesport Championship by Rob Chalmers I believe.

On that note, I don't suppose anyone has any photos of the Ka Challenge during the years 1998 - 2002 or actually any photos in general of the car in action? It's done everything from the Jim Clark to the Ulster rally.

Here is an advert for the car:

I competed in the Ka championhip in 2002 and 2003. 2002 was my second season in rallying, i cam 3rd the first year, winning the last round (tempest). Entered the series again in 2003, the 2003 series was the fullest season the KA championship had ever seen with over 30 cars running. The prize was a factory supporte super1600 puma in the 2004 BRC, as you can imagine the series was ultra competitive. I won 5 out of the 8 rounds in 2003 and won the championship in my KA P876 NWC which was one of the original boreham built cars

Some of the KA's were nothing but trouble and boreham seemed to struggle to map them right after the engine upgrades were made late 2001. My car still exists somewhere!

Prize collected form boreham 2004, last works built puma built EX02 PXK, here we are leaving workshop for kall kwic shakedown before start of 2004 BRC

              Fantastic info - nice one!!

Did you get to keep the Puma??? Even if not that's a hell of a prize - well done on the series! I'm told that Rob Chalmer's car was one of the original Boreham built cars too. Do you remember him competing?

I would love some of the Ka Championship overalls to go with the car - never see any on Ebay though

                  Cheers Matt!

I recognise that Nova, sure I was looking at a for sale advert of it not long ago before I made up my mind on the Ka - is it yours?

Re: KA Championship rally car rebuild

Yeah i remember rob chalmers well, still keep in touch with some of the ka lads but i dont think he competeed in 2003.

I kept the puma for a while after the BRC, i was hoping to buy it but by this point Boreham had shut and all dealings were with dunton technical centre. Trying to get any sense out of them was impossible and a new girl at dunton was in charge of the disposal of all rallycars and kit.
One day an email landed, rally car, service vehicles which were very comprehensively kitted out, all special build LHD Boreham transits, and the spares package had to be returned at once. It was then crushed, according to dunton it had reached the end of its normal use. If it had been boreham then i would imagine it would have been offered for sale but dunton did not seem to care a toss and it was just a hassle and paperwork for them so they crushed the lot.
had some great times testimng the puma around boreham test track etc and around the workshops and stores up there. The top bods at boreham said i would be lucky go get in the top 10 in BRC in my first year. led the championship for half the season and ended up loosing out on the championship by a few point in the end

Fantastic story you have to tell though!!! I'll have probably seen you on a few of the events! What are you rallying now? If you do have a contact for Rob, I'd like to contact him.

Rob sold the Ka in 2003 I think, to Reg who continued to run it on the Isle of Man. We have a box full of trophies to go with the car which is a nice keep sake - especially the hallowed Manx International 1st in class ones

I've been sorting out the aux fuse panel tonight, working out what does what and making diagrams. Nothing has changed to look at, but a quick driver's eye view...

With regard to something different - that's why I spend (too many!) hours trawling the projects and show & shine sections of this website. Love it
