well since the last post we've been to the rolling road to have the running probes sorted out,
And its like a new car
231BHP @the wheels
Tick over/ idle all sorted and we've installed few toys
The boys at AB rolling road fitted a switch to the clutch peddle which kills revs so i don't have to lift when changing gear, may not sound that good but its like having a sequential box and 1/2 sec per gear change?
they have also set it up for launch control but I'm still waiting for the speed sensors from coralba, might help me from sitting on the line for 20 sec
when your as slow as me all these little things help
out next Sunday Mid Wales stages
will let you know how we get on.
sorry its been a bit late been a bit busy,
Mid Wales stages.
FIRSTLY thanks to- Allerton Classics / Rollover spits
WOW best rally I have ever done
the stages are the best in the country and pikes peak
we had a wet start but everything was ok wiyh the car,
started the first stage Hafren south which was a couple of slow bends into 400 flat uphill Ive just had flat shift fitted,so as we came around amedium right I floored it in 3rd and flat shifted to 4th which kicked out the back end
had a bit of a scre with the tank slapper which slowed me down quite a bit.
secound stage hafren north
was very pissed off with myself after backing of so much we gave it some.we were doing ok in my book untill we got to the first haipin left as I clutched down to pull the hand brake the flat shift cut the engine and it stalled.
then in my panic tried to sart in gear with foot on clutch flat shift wont allow so out of gear start in gear go
this hounded us for the next 3 hairpins so we lost loads of time agian,
when we got back to service we disconected the flat shift and it didnt stall agian all day,
we decided to just go out and have fun and see how side ways we could get for the spectaters.had a brillint rally some of the historics are unbelivable gwyndaff Evans Awsome! he would of won the moderns with his times by 18 seconds just goes to show you dont need a WRC to be quick!
Those stages look absolutely fucking awesome! I need to go to wales sometime and have a crack at them.
Regards what you said about the historics, i totally agree and the evidence is abundant. There are some guys out there pedalling escorts beyond physics!
Just found this thread. Really smart car!
This you
Yep thats me
were back at sweet lamb for the coracle stages on the 26th july
luv that rally nice and compact and not to many road miles
If anyone is going down come on over,
Been a while so I thought Id better update,
26 July Coracle stages sweet lamb
The weather Did nothing but p**s down all day and made the stages very slippy
first stage went OK just trying to feel where the grip was going well until the uphill hairpin in the bowl in front of all the spectators over cooked the hairpin and turned it into a donut
second stage wasn't much better as the top half of sweet lamb had cut up quite ruff and made it hard to drive in the ruts
found out that escorts don't do ruts very well as you cant get the back end out, but finished the stage 4Th in class so quite pleased
started the 3rd stage and it all went a bit wrong from here,
after about a min in my navigator got lost on the pace notes, (not the first time that day) he read ahead to see if there was any cautions to be worried about until he found his place on the notes, "nothing ahead go"
so 4Th gear engaged on a long medium left flat-out, as the bend straightened I could see ahead the mound of earth that was used for the WRC to bring the speeds down,
which meant we had to go around it! sqr right into sqr lft hole inside, I was carrying way to much speed so tried to cut the corner off, and we hit the hole inside. (See Pic)
this sheered the bolts of the steering arm and chucked us in the ditch 100 yards further on. bending the wing arch etc,
Rally over,
But the recovery truck did more damage towing us back folding the bib spoiler up with his hoist.
fixed the steering back at service missed a few stages and went out on super rally at the back to have a play, not got many pics but will post more when I get them
Been on holiday since the rally.
 good write up again.
Sweet lamb is a cracking venue, serviced for my mate up there afew years back.
Any news on the cossie lump? will it be going back in?
