Re: mk1 escort st170 (well163 acyually lol)
right, just a quick update on the car. due to the fact that good st engines are getting thin on the ground, i decided to shell out and buy some shiny bits for the inside of the engine, raise the compression etc. only having done one event with it since the install, i can report that the car is doing well, much much stronger at the top end, and much livlier to drive! i have much to learn with it, but hoping to have a few events under her belt soon. only marginal gains figure wise, but feels much more! dynoman has been kind to start a thread under zetec instalation, 'ST170'Comment

Very impressive! i'm going to be attempting the same with my ST engine and fitting into a Mk3 Cortina. I want to move the engine as far back as possible but that air box is just in the way and was thinking of changing inlets but after reading your thread i can see it is possible to move itComment

the fitting of the engine is no different to a zetec. the airbox will fit, its essentially "upside down". not sure how youre fixed for space on the Cortina, but it is a squeeze on the mk1. still, its there, and works, very well!! :-)Comment

Re: mk1 escort st170 (well163 acyually lol)
i have got more room in the Cortina but i want to keep the engine as far back as possible and if i left it as normal in hits the brake master cylinder.
If i turn the airbox upside down i gives that bit of extra space and should sit in nicely
Its nice to see someone has done it and been successful lol ThanksComment

I have looked at changing the inlet but I cant seem to find anything that would work with the original throttle body
