Hi Gary,i found there was loads of differance from my 190bhp 2.1 compared to the HT 2.2 it had so much more grunt than the 2.1 and hardly had any problems below 3500rpm. It just seemed to pull and pull all the way to 8-8500rpm easily. And you can get a 2.2 bottom end done for about £1800 with forged pistons etc. Then just a pair of 50's and a HT1 cam

Ive been quoted about £900 for one with an internal wastegate,so maybe if i can save some money, which will be a first then i will get one,i will have to sell my T34 first though. Should get good money for that as its as good as new still.

I may do some mods if the engine comes out for a freshen up this winter,it would of had 3 years of abuse by then including two track days that ive done so far and lots of drag racing
I may lower the compression ratio, change the cams and put a bigger turbo on,all depends on funds
Thing is,it spins up in 3rd and 4th as it is on the road,so more power would make it even more silly on the road, would have to use treaded slicks all the time for the road.
What you might find is that the larger turbo will make it spin up abit less beleive it or not, as the T34 is quite "aggressive" with it's delivery, (2 gearboxes, a rear diff and a front driveshaft know what i mean ), starts spooling quite early but runs out of puff higher up the rev range, with the T4 on mine, power came in abit later i.e. when you are going abit faster on the road, so it wasnt so brutal and broke traction less, but it came on alot harder at the the top, and laughs in the face of 7.5k rpm Internally gated GT30 would be a good option, on a 2wd exhaust manifold.

You could always X-pack it and fit 12" slicks

              Re: Kevmk2 - Mk2 Escort - YB Cosworth Turbo

Well i would like to X pack it and fit wide split rims and all that. But the money tree has finally died and i can only just afford to keep it on the road now. So any future plans i had for it have gone out the window, unless my lotto ticket comes up,which i doubt very much
But if i can save a little here and there and wait until the end of the year i may be able to do a few bits to it.
And to fit a 2wd mainfold in mine i would have to move my engine over towards the n/s a bit cos my engine sits towards the o/s a bit more,so putting a 2wd manifold on at the moment would make it foul the inner wing
Unless i can fit a GT30 on with the 4wd manifold spaced out maybe

                Re: Kevmk2 - Mk2 Escort - YB Cosworth Turbo

The 4x4 manifold has a tendancy to crack in the collector, everyone i've seen that wasn't brand new has cracked there

I don't like the spaced 4x4 manifold idea. The studs / nuts used to bolt the std manifold to the head are special items, designed to withstand the heat and vibration (to a degree), fitting spacers means these studs aren't long enough anymore, so longer studs would be used (or even bolts), but unless they have been designed for the job, i doubt they would withstand the heat and vibration, last thing you want is to have these snap in the head.

Could you not "relieve" the inner wing abit to fit the 2wd manifold? Have you tried to fit the 2wd manifold to this engine before? You never know, it might fit as it is now, they are at a different angle to the 4x4 manifold so although it is bigger, it might fit quite nicely

Although, another option, instead of the engine / turbo change (it's not exactely slow now is it!) could be to fit a close ratio bernie box (CTS)

1st to 3rd gears are abit taller too on the close ratio kit, so might help your breaking traction problem

Just a few ideas for ya

I know what you mean about money, i have zero cash to spend on the car until May at least, it's very frustraiting paying for stuff a over a year after you've had it (and broken it in some cases ), but the credit cards are now in little pieces, never to be used again

Thanks for the tips and idea's Wes. Will have to have a chat with you at a pod meet or something this year. I saw your car at pod last year but didnt know you to speak to. I want to beat my 11.6 quarter this year. Other than that just drive it
I like the gearbox idea, but like everything else the dreaded money comes into it lol.

Hi Gary,i will have a look for some pics in the morning and put them on here. Dont think there was that many on 13" wheels as they wasnt on it for long,at the speeds i was doing i needed the car to stop and the tiny brakes wasnt doing anything

cheers kev , it looks much better on the 13 inch wheels , put em back on , don't worry about only having small brakes under them , just only use full boost on clear straights !!!!!!
