My bro will have to answer that one fella. As for the offset, I really don't know, I'm just fortunate that my wheels have been on Escorts each time. I don't think he'll be able to answer the offset question either. I'm not sure it works in the same way for split rims.

Re: My Grp4 Escort sprint and track day car.

You could work out the offset by taking some measurements glen but its not something you would be able to know without measuring because a 9" wheel could be any offset depending what rims are on it and what the centres machined to

Re: My Grp4 Escort sprint and Tarmac Rally car. New Gearbox install

Well as we all know our cars are never finished and even though i've had mine for 16 years it's no exception I don't think there is a week goes by without me doing something

So after I fitted the Duratec I used my 4spd Quaife Dogbox for a while and it was great but I really wanted a gearbox on the back of it to do it justice. I'd been saving up for a while and was looking at an Elite very closely and the Quaife 60G was getting superb reviews, but what I really wanted and pretty much lusted after was a Tractive 906. They are considered the best out there. I couldn't afford to buy a new one and used are like hens teeth.

I was just about to place an order for the Elite when I just happened to mention to a mate that I wish I could afford the Tractive when he said "I know a guy selling one".......I couldn't believe my luck so a call the the guy and a few quid later I got one under a year old and mint

I'd been on at Gary at Retro Motorsport to keep a slot free for me for ages so just a few weeks later it was in for some major surgery.

So this is how she looked about 10 minutes after I arrived, no doors, seats. I'd already taken the quaife out as you can see I've persevered for all this time with a standard tunnel.

Then within the blink of an eye Gary had slipped somewhat with his beloved Airsaw!!!!!

The new box sat in there to check we've cut enough away

Then while Gary was fannying around with a sheet of metal or something I did the real technical bit and mounted my gear position indicator in the intsrument cluster. It's from TTT racing in sweden and is superb, not like the Fischer Price ones that come with the quaife It changes colour too at your programmed shift point from Green to Red

Then I seem to have forgot to take some pics of it on it's own but in went one of Garys super rigid tunnels.

Now it would have been very easy to just mount the lever(They are seperate on a tractive to get the optimum position whatever car you install it in) facing along the tunnel but the proper way is to mount it with the lever knob level with the centreline of the steering wheel and to try and mimic the natural path your hand takes when pulling the lever which means the lever ends up pointing slightly towards the driver.

The time it took to fabricate this mount to also make sure the pivot quadrant was sitting at the right height and angle was probably twice as long as it took to fabricate the tunnel!!!!

Hats off to Gary though because what we ended up with looks superb and is so stiff and rigid there was no need for the usual 5mm plate sometimes seen welded to the top of a flat plate tunnel.

Then it was on to transfering the relevent holes needed for the linkage rods to finalise the lever positioning which went without a hitch.

                      I'll let the pics explain

I bent up a nice piece of stainless tube to route the cable to the Neutral/reverse lever which finishes it off much better than a naff grommet and makes it super easy to feed the cable through.

Huge thanks then go to my mate Shaun Potter at SP Racing paint and prep for putting a nice coat of paint on so quickly for me it looks superb.

I've been crap taking pics of the mount and Prop centre mount (they use a two piece prop) but they fit really nice and are very user friendly.

And ready for the drive home all done

SO massive thanks to Gary for helping me out and his fabricating skills, To Shaun for great paint(Again)

I'm really enjoying driving it now, the shift quality is amazing, really effortless and sooo quick, it's a fair bit quieter that my quaife too which makes driving it more fun on the roads. I bought 3 sets of drop gears from Tractive so I have the choice of 124/136 and 148 flat out in top Spread over 6 gears it's a great choice of ratios.

I'm just finishing prepping it for the Rockingham stages at the begining of December(5th and 6th) so I'll get more pics up soon of it all fitted up ready.

                      Thanks for looking

                      Matt

I'm fitting an MT75 in mine and need to have a split prop. Thought of re-using a sierra one.
