Hello Graham
Congratulation for your duratec conversion. Your post is very interesting for me. You know i own a Exige lotus with a duratec conversion and i have the same problem than yours : not enough room for the long throttle bodies. I am thinking about the cosworth roller barrel. It is very short and would be ok. But Amedeo from Raceco who know very well this engine told me that it is not so good for power...He thinks long butterfly throttle bodies are better...i don't know. The Caterham CSR260 use the roller barrel and give 260 ps.
The motorsport one are very expensive. There 's 2 models at : https://www.burtonpower.com/product_main.aspx?home.aspx
One for standard and race head and an other for ultra race head. I think it is a difference of diameter. the cost is around 1400 pounds including air box
Are the Titan's less expensive ? have you any link to see it ?
Sorry for my english...i do my best

Your english is very good! The Titans are around £1000 for the set, plus the inlet trumpets.
Titan is an Engineering & Technology company with a 40 year history of Manufacturing in the UK. Skilled and highly motivated staff, on two sites, in one geographic area; covering Design & Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Assembly, Quality, Logist
Jenvey sell much shorter throttle bodies, with and without an injector. You could swap to those, and use the Pico injectors in the head to supply the fuel, which is what I could have done. But I've read that the Titans give greater airflow at full throttle, and Northampton Motorsport have expertise in setting them up, so I'll be getting the car rolling roaded there hopefully, as they're quite close to home.
The Titans are arriving Tuesday, I'll post pictures when they arrive.
The main problems with every roller barrel are :
- they are very sensitive to dirt and sand
- their advantage are only at high revs, in the mid range standart ones are supposed to be better
Great advantage for us they are very shorter !
Please see mine :
Goog work lads. You won't be disappointed with your conversions mine has been awsome.
You are right about the barrel throttles, they only really have a very slim advantage at full throttle but they can be worse at low and mid throttle angles. I think your main problems will be that you will not get a long enough inlet tract length for optimum power but again it will still only be about a few BHP/Lbft.
You can see that although I have short trumpets the inlet length is quite long
Keep it up.
Do you think you will be out for early season next year Graham?
Graham
So with the Titan you will have only 4 injectors in the head ? Could you please measure the Titan ? are they longer or shorter than the Cosworth ones ?
Here we go. Here are the Titans which arrived today.
They have 100mm trumpets, in anodised aluminium. The barrels are a work of art. Almost too nice to bolt on the car.
I'll do some measuing tomorrow. At least these are at right angles to the head.
Matt, I fully intend to be out with the Duratec next year. I'll probably be 2.3 by then so will at least be able to collect a pot the next time I'm thrown in with the big boys at MIRA.
I'm trying to source a sequential FWD box at the moment, as I really dont think the IB5 is going to cope with 270 BHP. Big ambitions as always, but so long as I can hang on to your shirt tails, I'll be happy. I'm going to do the double header rounds too, eg Pembrey weekend, to get the best VFM. Croft is going to be my target for the first round.
Are you going to be out too? Can anyone really afford to compete in the current climate?
Been having some fun with the Scooby on these cold and slippy roads. I'm so loving 4WD. The next project is definitely going to drive all the wheels.
Congratulations Graham it is fantastic nice parts !! And it looks short enough to be fitted on your car ( and on mine ) Is this trumpets longer recommanded by Titan for this engine ? What will be your choice of cams to go with ?

Hi Francky. I'll bolt them to the head tonight and post pictures up. I'm still expecting clearance issues, so I may end up with shorter trumpets.
Jenvey always said that the longer the inlet length the better.
I'll definitely run an airbox of some form. I was previously using the Piper box on my Jenveys, but I sold this, so I'll have to get myself something else.
The Titans are a very impressive piece of engineering. They appear heavier than the Jenveys, but as I no longer require an inlet manifold, that probably cancels out the increase. The barrels roll beautifully, but I appreciate the need to keep all the dirt out, so I'll certainly be running a filter with the air box.
F1 technology on a Mk1 Fiesta. Who'd have thought
As for Cams, I'm going to have that discussion with the engine builder. I want maximum bottom end power for hillclimbing.
She's going to get a CNC head, high compression, and a few steel bits thrown in for good measure. In the mean time, I'll take her down to Simpsons for a new exhaust system with Catalytic convertor.
Use a filter in the airbox seems to be very important with the roller barel !
Graham could you please measure the longer of Titan + trumpet ?
What is a cnc head ? what cost ?

Check the attachments for the technical details on the Titans'. I'll be in the garage this evening fitting them.
