Re: My MK6 Escort RWD Rally Car
On the front it is Sierra Cosworth 909 Struts and hubs with Hi Spec 300mm discs and bells, i wanst very happy with them at 1st they had a dead line because i was out at Twyford and needed them back and when i did they were all wrong one side fitted and the other didnt! So after a few high speed journeys to and from Dartford got it sorted and came 2nd in class, but was alot of unessary stress and ball ache. They do work well tho!
When i get a chance ill post some pics, it has a sierra x member and rack.Going Sideways is the way Forward!Comment

Re: My MK6 Escort RWD Rally Car
No it was just a bog standard escort bonus. Peter Maylum did all the whole conversion about 10 years ago and my dad had slowly been building at Peters workshop over that time, when i got involved the car was finished in 4 months and did our 1st full season last year and had a scream! This year will hopefully be better without as many teething problems i hope!Going Sideways is the way Forward!Comment

My Day at Woodbridge Middlewick Stages.
All started well on Saturday, lovely clear sunny day!
The only thing the scrutineer had to say about the car was that the front number plate was to small! I keep a full size UK one in the van so fitted it to keep him happy! What would have been the problem its on a airfield no road mileage!
Stage 1 we are running car 16 so i knew we would have the front runners coming up behind me on the merge so we kept an eye in the mirrors so i didnt hold anyone up! About of the 3rd of the way round a Nissan 240RS was looming up behind managed to move out of his way on a runway section and i didnt loose any time which was good. We were going really well the stage was nice and flowing and i was really enjoying it! The next car to catch us was Peter Rayner in his 250bhp well sorted mk2 escort so got out his way and waved as he went past and Richard Bonner gave me the thumbs up as they got in front, i managed to stick with hm on the twisty bits as we went round a square 90 left onto the runnway he ran wide beacue i was so close i did the same and we both ended up going the wrong side of some cones and bushes!! He then spilt left for the finish and we repeated the rest of the stage wit no one else caching us! As we approached the flying finish on the road book it showed it as an easy left into an easy right over finish it was blind cause we were in the bushes between the runways, i saw the yellow time boards so kept it on then as we got closer it tightened right up to a square 90 not an easy and i was going well to quick so went off into the trees and missed the finish completely! We hit a couple of trees and drove over a few so did some damage to the body work and suspension!
Nursed the car to the time control and back to service where the i inspected the car where i could see the compression strut and TCA were bent, So i got on with changing them. All back on quick drive in the service area and the car drove straight, so helmets on and headed for SS2 time control but as we got there the closing course car came over the finish so we were OTL and out of the rally!
We were not the only crew to crash were we did about 15 crews went off and damaged their cars, all the cars with a time of 9.53 did what we did. SS1 was canceled!
We were allowed to carry on from stage 5. I then set 7th quickest time on stage 5 then 10th on SS6 7th again on SS7 and 10th SS8. Im sure if i had not crashed on SS1 and drove with out a spin or an off i would have won my class and got a good top ten finish! But thats rallying!
We still had an excellent day even after the crash!
Here is the only pic i have at the mo but will post more when i get them!
Thanks to Gary and Cossie Matt for the work on the power steering would not have been able to go as quick as i did on the twisty stuff with out it!
Here is the entry list and results.
