At the beginning it was an 2,0 Pinto 8V engined car with 4 speed straight cutted gearbox, later then it get´s an Volvo M47 5 speed straight cutted gearbox.
Now it is an nearly finished 2,4 16V Cosworth engined car with 6 speed Quaife 60G gearbox.

For what you want to use the car.
    Historically
    German group H
I think it will be difficult. Large wheel arches in Group H are allowable?
If the cage is a certificate or homemade?

Re: VDH Escort MK1 Tarmac Rally Car

      Hi.
Car is already used in German group H.
It is long time ago that i drive a rally with the car because i work in China for my company since Nov. 2006.
But i drive with the large wheel arches the 3 Städte Rallye 2006, this was also first rally with the Cosworth engine.
      The roll cage is "homemade".

If you work in China you do not have the new H-rules, perhaps. Since Jan 2010, no large tunnel and no more big wheel arches are allowed. Any changes above the door sills are not allowed as far as I know. I am not a large specialist in group H.
The homemade cages must have a lot more reinforcements. (Double door struts, gussets, diagonals and more). Jan 2011 even new ones. Must you make even read the manual.

          Hi

At the first Thread i mentioned that i start with some photos from the beginning, this means the pictures are from 2003/2004.
Big wheel arches are unchanged, roll cage has some changes.
This year i have watched the Rally Vogelsbergcup, it was a race for the DRM, i have seen group H cars with large tunnels.

Re: VDH Escort MK1 Tarmac Rally Car

Car looks great. I like the extra vertical bar at the A pillar - WRC style.

One comment - the door bar looks a smaller diameter than the rest of the cage - not the best place to save some weight?

Looking forward to seeing some more recent pictures.

the roll cage is only made with 40mm*2 & 50mm*2 pipes, no smaller size. same when you buy an rollcage from OMP or some other company... maybe it cheat on the picture

last but not least it comes the "big" day when i pick it up from first painting job :-)
i was very happy when i have it at home because it was a little bit "swinging" during the drive.
but i had only 3 kilometer to drive, so i drove not faster then 30 km/h (sunday morning, everybody was in the church expect me so the street was empty)
