i'll give you a score for the carb
thing with chopping the floor though, its thin metal the floor so not particularly heavy plus your'll probably put all that weight back on strengthening the shell back up, and if anything, it will do it good some more weight on the back wheels, give you abit more grip
thats my tuppence worth anyway, and dont get an atlas if your worried about weight, they're chuffing heavy 
english axles though coz they're from an escort seem abit dear to me, try looking for something like a reliant robin axle or bedford rascal axle, i would think they would be much cheaper, but even then there is some independent rear suspension much cheaper than live rear axles now days.
