Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2
So, in order to save weight, I'm going to do exactly that, however I need some ideas for the gearbox mounting. The engine/box are supported from above, therefore the weight of the engine/box are hanging on the engine mount. Does anyone have any pictures of a mount which would be suitable? Or at least something I could steal an idea from.Comment

Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2
Ordered some metalastic style bonded rubber bushes from www.rswww.com and some 3mm steel sheet from ebay. I'll have this sorted this week with a bit of luck.
Heck I'll even sell kits once I got it all sussed out.Comment

Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2
Bingo! M-Sport sells not only an uprated alloy arm and powerflex style mounting bracket to replace the standard items, but they also sell a very trick looking LH gearbox mounting, which they're going to sell to me on a sale or return basis, with a discount!
Saves any hassle trying to make my own now.Last edited by team_zi; 22-09-2008, 10:47.Comment

Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2
Sold the 2.0 Zetec from the XR2 yesterday, which means that there is definitely no going back now. And I have some more money to play with now.
This is the picture of the M-Sport LH mount
And this is the picture of the RH uprated mount
And together with the uprated arm
Should make for a securely mounted Duratec in the car.Comment

Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2
ooo, that looks like some nice kit! Can't wait to see it go Graham, it's going to be a beast, I reckon you'll be pretty surprised yourself, the torque is just sensational! What are you doing on the 13th Nov? You should come down to the retroford brands track day, even if it's just to passenger!Comment

And I reckon they'll let me keep my Mondeo for 3 months as part of the redundancy package (3 months notice period), so maybe I should register for the day myself. 460NM of 2.2 Duratorq Diesel should see off more than a few cars.
It wouldn't be her first track day, afterall....Last edited by team_zi; 23-09-2008, 12:25.Comment

Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2
I'm being made redundant on the 3rd October, so I may well be free in November. If so, Brands sounds like a great day out. If you're offering a ride, then I'm defo up for it.

Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2
I have the date in my diary. The Mondeo company car also went back on Friday, so I'm car-less today. Will be test driving a Subaru Legacy Diesel Estate this afternoon with a view to taking one on contract hire. Should make a great tow car.
Just sorting out the contractor details gubbins at the moment. Registered with an umbrella limited company at the weekend, and am now sorting out the financials.Last edited by team_zi; 06-10-2008, 13:53.Comment
