We changed the rear cylinder for a 0.625......amazingly it is much better!

we started with 0.625 front/0.7 rear then went 0.7 all round and now have 0.7 front/0.625 rear.....each step has been an improvement. We have only tested on road tyres so it is impossible to set the bias...but it deffinately is getting better.

I just want to get the next two events out of the way which is anglesey next weekend and then rockingham in December............after that there is nothing until early March so we will find a bin for the rear willwoods and put some brakes on there instead.

now the next thing we need is someone reliable to do the shell on the MK2 escort

In car from last weekend's Glyn Stages at Ty Croes Anglesey.

Cars was much better than last time, but had a few gear selection and clutch problems. We had loads of fun and I am deffinately much in love with my car!

In the first video there is a small jump in the film when we catch a red Nova as the navigators language is not really very nice..........

this second video has the camera on the outer bodywork set at drivers head height, so it bassically gives you my viewpoint. camera fogs a bit at the the start but soon clears and it's worth waiting for the lovely scenery in the background....Oh and our small spin!

Well we had a very eventful Rockingham rally. About 3/4 of the way into the first stage we suffered clutch failure. Brand new Willwood master cylinder burst back out through the input rod leaking all the fluid over my legs and resulting in a partially engaged clutch which was soon slipping.

It was fixed with a new cylinder and we completed the rest of the stages, but unfortunately we had dropped many minutes. We set good times on Sunday when it was all sorted and had a great time.

...every time I saw the back of that Japanese car we seamed to gain 10 horsepower. After we caught him on 3 or 4 stages he refused to start in front of us again!

That car really gathers speed propperly. And not only when hitting the high note. It seems to have some low down grunt as well. Seems to pull nicely. No wonder you're happy with the engine.

Some questions came to mind.
What does it weight?
What's the top speed?
What's the final drive ratio?
What kind of a clutch you're using?

What kind of event's were these two rally's you've entered? Where are the propper forest and tarmac open road special stages?

I'd love to hear this one roaring in the forest.

Thanks, yes it is starting to go better.

Everything on the car is purpose built so it all needs sorting out. Many cars you can just buy stuff 'off the shelf' and it will be 90% there. This car everything is bespoke so there is so much fine tuning to do to get speed.

I am very lucky in that I get lots of help advice from people who have 'been there and got the tee shirt'......engine mechanics, set up etc.

The car is heavier than you think. It is quite short geared though.....105mph in 5th. It is like it has all the right ingredients just needs the right mixture.....2010 it will get faster and faster. The engine is very strong and will I am sure be even better going forward.

Actually compared to a a group 4 escort this is a cheap car to build...it just takes twice as long to build and set up!

a few mates were at ty croes that weekend i think. 200sx's, civic type r's etc beating a few cars.

i was round at my mates monday having a look at the darian t90 hes just bought, thats running an XE though, seems to smoke above 7k up but nothing on start up, light load or anything, and isnt slow, so i think he'll be running that next year then rebuild in the winter.

are you at ty croes next week?

Small update since Rockingham. We have had the suspension set up finally and modified the possition of the inner rose joint on the rear arms to allow more adjustment. We have also done some more work on the brakes to get more effort from the rear as on the last event the fronts were overheating on the longer stages.

Took the box out last week to see the state of the clutch.......it is not too pretty site.....the slave cylinder was cooked!...seals ruined and no fluid in it at all..........luckily it's a dog box and we weren't really using the clutch much.

We are doing some work on the oil system as it was overheating on longer stages, we will also probably use a different oil grade.

Car will have a bit of a general service and then it will be out next at the end of February on the Slaters Stages, Angelsey....anyone else from TS doing this one?

What oil are you running on now?
And what oil are you goung to try out?

Motul racing 5W30 was recommended for my application.

Millers 5/40 synthetic. I think it's too thin.

Why do you think its too thin? Have you checked the bearings yet or is it the overheating problem?

It's getting too hot, being mid engined the cooling is an issue
