Cheers. I'm going to go for the 13" AP setup. I'm getting it all from Ian Rix who makes the kits for a lot of the various rally supply places. I'm going to swap to alloy hubs and grp4 studs at the same time.

Oh really? Yeah that actually caused the stage to be cancelled in the end, was crazy slippery!

I went for the 19 row 330mm one in the end. It seemed to do the job, although now it does take a long while to get the oil up to temperature initially. Even with a long period of ticking over and revving it waiting for the start of stage, it was only about 60 degrees as we left the line. The highest I saw was just over 90 degrees in the tank, but it was a fairly chilly day.

Water temperature seemed OK, although I may need to tape off the radiator on an exceptionally cold day I think.

If it's really cold at Rockingham do you reckon you might need to blank some of your oil cooler off to get the temp up a bit..? Although your oil tank is in your engine bay so I guess it doesn't get as much chance to lose heat as mine does with all the pipework connecting it from the boot... it seems a difficult thing to get right so far.
Looking good that install Jon, I've specced for HOT sumers day size so I've had to go across the front.

I've been putting the miles on my new engine and I'm struggling to get the temps up on these cold days this week but was hoping that when I give it some proper revs and stick it will get hotter but it's definitely much much better.

I've moved the fan to the engine side as I needed the room. I opted for the 400mm 25 row Setrab cooler, but now the fan isn't in the way I can easily blank off the intake to restrict the air flow. I've got a new 12" Spal pull fan, I was most upset when my faithful Pacet fan finally gave up the ghost after 17 years LOL I bought that for my very first escort, my first car!!

You gonna pop up to Rockingham for a watch and natter?

Haha - the Kenlow fan on mine has been in about half a dozen of my Escorts - and it was 2nd hand when I bought it back in the early 90's.

I'm not going to be able to make Rockingham unfortunately. Family commitments getting in the way. (I need to keep the missus sweet if I'm going to get enough garage time over Christmas to get the car ready for next year.)

I'm guessing you'll be doing the Brands Hatch one in January? I'm aiming for that one followed by Goodwood 2 weeks later.

          Good luck for Rockingham

Cheers! It's nice to get to use it, having spent so long building it.

Yours seems to be coming on a treat now too...

Cheers Gavin - and no worries. Nice to have it all sorted.

Yes, see you at Brands. I see the regs are out now and entries will be accepted from the 6th December: http://brandshatchstages.co.uk/

to be honest I don't think Matt will do that one mate, he's considering some Epynt or Otterburn action next year now, going to save his budget for tyres etc for that.

I'm sure we'll be down to support you guys though!

Re: My mk2 Rally car - Duratec power

                            So, a quick update...

Mark has given the car a good jet wash and we've had the gearbox out to fix the leak. It seems the oil was leaking from where the selector rod comes through the front of the gearbox and into the recess in the bell housing. A new gasket and some liberal use of sealant should fix this hopefully. The box is back in the car now.

While I was in the workshop, I also got a couple of pics of the dent that we need to push out. Shouldn't be too bad...

I've submitted our entries for both Brands Hatch and the South Downs Stages at Goodwood - but we're 1st reserve for Brands. Fingers crossed that one of the 80 accepted entrants will pull out beforehand.

Hi Jon - if it makes you feel bette, my rear quarter was worse than that, and Shaun at SP Racepaint knocked it out in a couple of hours...

Keep the updates coming - it saves me from boredom here in China

Yeah, I'm hoping it will pull back into reasonable shape. My main priority is getting the brakes sorted and the car ready to rally again. I'll sort out the dent if I have time left over. I'll probably just push it out roughly for now and then do a 'proper' job in the summer when I've got more time.

(Whereabouts in China are you? and what are you up to?)
