Peter Lloyd Rallying Stages was yesterday 13/10/13. Finished 23rd overall and 4th in class. Missed 3rd by 1 second which was a bit gutting but I achieved my target of a top 25. Lost a lot of time being stuck behind a slower car on SS3 and it also rained and we were on slicks which hurt our stage time massively. Only issue we had yesterday was a misfire for half a stage which we think was fuel related but apart from that it was all good. Car was amazing in the wet once we were on the correct tyres and Im really pleased that everything finally came together after some bad luck on the last 2 events.
Wont be out again now until the Christmas Stages in Pembrey on the 29th of December so the car will have some much needed TLC and be treated to a fresh coat of paint and we shall put the 4:9 cwp in the gearbox.
They've just been relaunched with new construction and are supposed to be much improved. They are e marked and fully road legal so wondered if we can use in RR class?
They are mega cheap and I'm going to trial them at Rockingham if John can get me some.
Ha ha ha, no Rockingham for me pal. Few more tweaks before Christmas stages now and some testing.
Should be fine to use them in Road Rally class since their e marked. I've only heard bad things about Maxsport but if they have been re constructed then maybe there will be a big improvement there. The problem with them was that they didnt give much confidence and when they got too hot they de laminate. Worth a try maybe though as they are cheap. See how they go.
Apparently the problem with the old version was that the moulds out too much rubber on the tyre. They claim to have resolved this now and have new moulds. The cut is a Pirelli pattern.
I'll try them at Rockingham and let you know my findings. If they're only £300 a set then they could be a good yoko alternative.
