    Escort Mk 2 1300 Slalom

    Here is my Mk2 Racecar.

    It´s a original 1300 shell. We weld a rollcage in, worked al little bit on the suspension and make a engine at home. This ist how we drive the first year.
    The second winter we striped it down fitted a sierra 5 speed gearbox. Switched the axle from köln (i think atlas is the english name) to Banjo with a 4.44 transmission with a ZF spool . We also get some GFK Parts.
    In the first race this year one Valve decided to chop off and the engine broke down. Everything was broken down piston head zylinder.
    So we get a new 1300 Engine Build by a small german engine Builder. The Engine got a new Exhaust Manifold, Fully build hat with combustion chamber in the had an flat pistons. light flywhell, other clutch (AP)......
    On the Ignition Side we fitted a Van Kronenbourg programmable Ingnition System.
    Thats how we race at the moment. Its a little bit hard to race with the Escort because the VW polos are lighter an had more engine power.

    and searche for a new 2door shell, but it is nearly impossible to get a good shell or car in germany to build up a new racecar.

    I thank for all tip´s about doing stuff on the car, or to get parts. Like i say it´s very hard to get information and good parts in germany.

    This week we prepared the car for another Race. Its a mix between Hillclimb and Slalom. Here´s a quick review from last year:

    We got some work to do this week. At the last race we had a new set of tires: michelin rst slicks on 7"ats classic. After the race we saw that the rear tires hit the inner arch so we cut everything and make space for the tires. We hope for good weather cause the track there is quiet fast if its dry

      Here´s the review of the race:
      The weather was very bad. Cold and Wet. So we started on our Yokohama rain Tyres. But during the Race the track went more and more dry. So it wasn´t the best race ever but we aren´t the last in the group. My dad got 5th place and i´m on the 8th from 10. I hitted a pin in every run so I´ve get 3 seconds time added on each run.
      The car run good without any problems.

      We drive in "Startgruppe 4" and "Startgruppe 5"

      Thats the last race for this year so we start do work on the car. The first step is to get 45 Webers an go back on the dyno. The other plans are to do some bodywork because of rust problems. Improve the heating system and maybe fit the throttle bodie conversion and fit another pedal box.

        cool, it looks like your running rather narrower tyres than the opposition, corner speed is as or even more important than straight line speed

              Yes because I can´t fit wider Tires under the arch. we drive 3 set´s of 7" wheels and it´s very close at the arch. But we can´t wide the arch because the shell is very bad on both sides the car has body filler (or is bondo the right name??) from the pre owner. I´m searching for a new shell since a year but like i say very difficult. Next weekend we want to go a race from the german hill climb masters. Maybe one of the Escort guys from there has a shell to sell.

                put sum arches on it fella,. dont matter what the body work is like as uyou can cover it back up with filler., does it matter having rear opening doors?? because if not just make your own box arches.,

                  Great to see a nice escort being thrown up and down a sprint section, not enough escorts over here!

                  Im searching 2 years for a nice solid escort for reasonable money and still searching.... Munich is terrible for fords, Köln of course seems to be the best

                    Can anybody tell me how wide the different arches are ? If seen tarmac tarmac wide forest but I don't now how they are.

                      Tomorrow i´m going to fit our wheel sets with spacers on and make some pics maybe anyone here could say after the pics which arches would fit to our problem

                        Today I finaly got time to put the wheels on. The wheels are 7" ATS and 25mm Spacer so its close to 8".
                        so the smallest arches would be fine

                          Hi could you put up a side on view of your car with the ATS wheels on never seen an escort with them on would like to see how it looks ,more of a VW wheel over here on mk1 golfs. cheers

                              Yesterday we made a final testing day on a track. Can run very good I was faster than a subaru sti

                              And we finally went to the dyno with 45er Weber´s. We got 11 Din PS more. Maybe I put the curve as picture on here.

                              So this week the winterworking is going to start.
