As for machining the bore tom
I've seen a similar caliper being machined and the tool is placed on an arm and is done on a mill
Hard to explain and as the tool arm was so thin I couldn't understand how the arm didn't vibrate
Ill try and find the video

Unfortunately the video I have seen is in Chinese
