Sadly, all the money spent and effort put in was for nothing and then engine blew on 1st stage. Looks pretty terminal so that's probably out year over.
      Bloody French crapmobile!

Thanks Arwel, the MG did really well yesterday too!

I would honestly sell it but I'd never get enough back now to make it worthwhile so I guess I need to find another engine and go again!

Sorry you didn't finish either, I can only assume we going to be really lucky in 2015 to make up for the shower of shit that has been 2014!!

So my spare engine is now back in. This one is a bog standard saxo vts j4 engine but I have bolted my cams and throttle bodies on to it. Next week is the long trip back to Cornwall for Sandy Brown to map it again. I'm also going to ask him to lower the rev limit to try and be extra safe.

Caerwent on the 28th September is the goal and that will probably be last rally of the year for me I think.

            Cheers
            Matt

can't believe all the problems your having matt! Won't be long and they will all be ironed out! Also why don't you run your old map with the 'new' engine as it won't be different enough to matter.

It's been a shit year, never spent so much to achieve so little. I'm only lucky that I have John looking after the car or the bills would have been even worse.
I'm paranoid about the car now so want the map checked and the rev limit dialled down!

What discs are you running? If they are the AP ones they are prone to cracking, I can sort out an alternative for around half the price of a pair of the AP discs. All you need to do is fit the provided spacers to the calipers as the discs are 2mm thicker, this setup has been run on the Manx and the Jim Clark with no issues.

Thats fair enough john explained the cam situation to me too, and it all makes sense now. They rev to 7.5k all the time so it is weird you dropped a valve at that rpm i think yours is the only one i know of

You must have had you fair share of bad luck by now matt, pug life is great when everything is going your way but reliability seems to be their biggest downfall. Good luck for caerwent

Thanks Luke, it's back up and running now and I think John has convinced me to order a proper all steel engine from Tommy Field. I'm going to sleep on it and decide for definite tomorrow but think it's the only way for the car to progress.

Ps - found a set of escort carpets in the garage if you're interested?

                        Cheers

John was saying the other day it's looking good. Will you be spending much time down that office? Build an all steel motor too 185bhp would be lovely! Hehe

                                Re: Peugeot 106 Cup Car

So it's rally week once again!
The Patriot Stages is this Sunday at Caerwent and we are seeded at car 74 out of 100. I have bought some Dmack slicks to try which I've never used before and also some Hankook wets. I've never had so many decent tyres so we should be covered whatever the weather!
There are 25 cars in the 1600cc class so not expecting to win but getting to the end would feel like winning after the way the last few rallies have gone.
Plenty of other turbosporters in action too with Arwel and Lee out at numbers 47 & 19 respectively so should be a fun day.
                                Cheers
                                Matt
