Normal service resumed, good stage 1 and then clutch cable snapped when queuing for SS2.
Yet another early bath.
The car is now definitely not getting a new and more powerful engine as it has proved itself to be an utter twat.
Xmas stages in Pembrey next if I manage not to burn it before then!
That is pants! I agree, no rewards for the car until it learns to behave
It's having a pair of cams, a new clutch and a map and that it's lot. Got to use it at Xmas because I have 12 new tyres that I need to get some use out of!

Have you looked into getting a new cable yet?
I've been told the original cup ones are no longer available but not yet found out what other model would do the job.
Fair play for persisting with it by the way, it can be a real bugger when you get a run of DNFs.

Hi, we had a spare one with us so fixed it as soon as we were towed back into service. Think it's just a standard 106 gti one. It's only from a local Motor Factors, can get you the part number if it helps?
Cheers
Matt
So car has now had a re prep ready for Pembrey on the 28th December. It's had a new pair of catcams and another mapping session with Sandy Brown, an entire new set of spoox silicone hoses as well as an all over spanner check.
It needs an mot and then we're ready to go, fingers crossed we can end this rubbish rallying year on a high!
It was the Jaffa Stages at Pembrey on Sunday and finally we got an event that involved no mechanical problems. It was not an entirely straightforward day as I spun and hit things a lot and we also had a puncture which meant a stage maximum and a finish position of 47 out 50 finishers. I was very pleased with the car though and despite the cosmetic damage the car is pretty much ready to go again. Next rally is Rali Cwm Gwendraeth once again at Pembrey on Feb 8th.
Think the pic below sums this weekend up!!
Thanks for reading

Good effort Matt. It was a challenging day for you but you made it to the end. Build on that now for next year. Best of luck for next year and I'll catch up with you soon.
