Re: Pushrod kings MK1 Escort race car
nick certainly punches well above his weight, having started behind him on the odd occasion i've had plenty of opportunities to watch him harass cars that are on paper much faster, a lot of it is down to him carrying a LOT of corner speed which largely offsets the fact that as good as it is the little old x/flow must be near the bottom of the power stakes, given a few more gee gee's and some bubbles he could worry some very fast carsLeave a comment:

Re: Pushrod kings MK1 Escort race car
I think that 5th in race one and 10th in race 2 prove that I had the oomph, and that's despite having a fuel starvation problem which left me with no top end speed...!Leave a comment:

Re: Pushrod kings MK1 Escort race car
Time for me to update the thread and add a race report or three: Brands Hatch 30th October; Qualifying went well on a wet/drying/greasy circuit, despite being on slicks and not having a clear run due to there being 34 cars on track and the reds coming out early I managed to set a 103.323 which put me 13th on the grid and 2nd in class (which became 1st in class after Jezs trip into the gravel trap),to my amazement I'd out qualified both Richard Brent (105.503) and Bill Richards (103.574).
Race 1: starting behind the blue 3dr cossie of Peter Taylor and 20v Turbo Golf of Steve Dann and with faster higher class cars behind me I expected to get swallowed up into the 1st corner but thanks to a very slow rolling start and wet weather I was able to out accerate the cossie and get on the tail of the #48 subaru impreza into paddock hill bend,by the end of lap 1 I was up to 10th overall but Richard Brent had somehow got up to 12th from his 24th place start,on lap two I was less than 2 seconds behind the subaru but there was a crash at paddock which necessitated a safety car period,Richard Brent also made an uncharictaristic mistake and had also gone off at paddock! Although I was 8th overall when I saw this I stopped trying so hard and actually dropped back a bit after the safety car went in eventually finishing 15th overall but 1st in class E
Race 2 will followLeave a comment:

2nd in class, 11th overall ..and also I think 10th overall in the championship out of 60 odd runners if I'm not wrong
