      looks good graham

the alternator bracket... does that sit above your crossmember?

i've just recieved one of those pipercross airboxes for mine, i have to chop some of the front panel, but i really dont mind that now

ordered another rad, as mine wasn't cooling it properly, gone for a 350x650 with a 60mm core and twin fans

oh, yeah, thermostats... cosworth/burton do a 82deg stat, the standard one is apparently 95deg

thought that might be good for you.

The bottom two lugs on the bracket face the cross member, though I can shorten the engine steady bar, which would make the engine sit more upright, and that would move the bracket further away from the crossmember.

Thats a shame. Titan reckon I need an ITG or similar. Going to shop around.

Oer, Radtec claim that the size I've gone for should be adequate. I can always add an oil cooler, which may help. Are you getting enough air flow through the radiator?

Dont know what the point of fitting a cooler thermsotat would be. Engines are supposed to run at a specific temperature, and 82 sounds a bit low to me.

          Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2

i was running a 300x600x45 when we were out mapping it, and it was running v hot, no prob with airflow, but it never managed to drop temps

i also will be fitting an oil cooler, but again thermostatically controlled.

i think the duratecs are renound to run hot, the 82 deg stat allows coolant to flow from a lower temp, but it doesn't neccessarily mean the engine will run any cooler than it should

apparently a few people in duratec powered race cars take the thermostat out and run a straight through housing.

Do people still do that? They'll be the ones at the back of the field complaining that their engines never warm up.

I'll see how mine goes. I never had any issues with the 2.0 Zetec oveheating. Oil temps used to get very high, but then Zetec's love hot oil.

              Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2

I reckon I've found a cheap alternator that I can use on the engine.

Its only £50 + P&P, which is a lot cheaper than the Competition alternatives. (~£150). Cant be that much difference, can there?

              Mitsubishi A7T03277A

Just waiting for the seller to confirm the distance between the top and bottom lugs (needs to be 160mm to fit the Raceline bracket) and the input shaft diameter.

40A is more than enough to supply the fuel injection system and ECU.

Looking fantastic Graham - that gearbox isn't as much as I would have guessed at tbh!

Defo looks like a Ford item though. How much would you want for the short inlet Adam?

                                Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2

Oh yes. Remind me of your paypal addy and I'll send you the money.

Alterntor doesn't quite fit the Raceline bracket. Bottom lugs are too close together. So I'll make my own bracket out of 3mm steel as the Raceline one uses 4mm which is thicker than my gearbox mout. Nice on Raceline.

Brake fluid reservoirs are fitted, and nearly plumbed in. Cant find two of the bolts to connect the drop lines to the master cylinders. They'll turn up.

Mixed some caustic soda crystals with warm water to clean the aluminium bracket prior to polishing it. Came up beautiful.
