    Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2

The Fiesta is booked in with Tony Law in Leeds in a few weeks time for a full race exhaust manifold and system.

Removed the driveshaft from the outer CV joint last night, so I can get her back on her wheels again and measure the driveshaft length tonight. And I removed the 3.58:1 ring gear from the LSD so the box can be collected by its new owner over the weekend.

And I've ordered the 4.38:1 final drive for the new box, so its just a matter of time before it is delivered.

This weekend I'll push the car out the garage and have a tidy up of the workshop, and hopefully fit the new alloy rear end.

Ford Fair in August should be the debut.

i cant picture the back end of my car but is the rear end kit you brought a simple bolt up job or does it require having additional mounting points welding up?

the aluminium rear arms and panhard rod simply replaces all the std parts with no mods required.

Looks awesome, still think you should cut off that centre grille bracket though, it's blocking no.4 trumpet

That's the bit with the masking tape on it that says 'cut'. 8-)

                    Also saves weight of course

Thats exactly what some technical people from Ford said, at a show I was at when it had the Zetec inside.

I've fitted both the tie bars on the rear of the engine, and by locking them against each other (ie one is extended (under compression) to make sure that the other is under tension) and the engine is absolutely rock solid now, with not even a hit of movement. Awesome.

I'll be removing the radiator and throttle bodies prior to the trip to Leeds on Friday. So they'll just have the bare shell to work with, with no valuable bits left on board.

Tony Law have yet to confirm arrangements for theft or loss through fire, so I'm going to make sure that the vehicle is protected before making the journey.

                          Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2

Apparently the car is covered whilst at their premises, but I'm still going to enquire about additional cover.

This is what I'll do to the front panel. I'll replace the section above the radiator with a removable ally or stainless panel.

Took off the radiator, tb's, and fitted the steel bonnet and the plastic grill, ready for the trip.

Paul at Coordsport is looking in to sourcing the spider joints, or tri-lobes as I know them. Puma ones may be the same pattern as the Fiesta ST. And I've bid on a boot replacement kit on ebay, so this could turn out to be easier (and a lot less expensive) than I first thought.

And the number plate for the trailer arrived this morning. I only ordered it yesterday from www.platecreator.com. Top work.

                              Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2

Loaded the car on to the trailer last night, and they're now tucked up in the garage.

M-Sport called me to say that they can source the tripod/trilobe/spider joints for the driveshafts, but I'll let Paul at Coordsport come back with his findings first as he reckons he can also come up with the goods.

I reconnected the starter motor last night, thinking that the Varley red top would be dead as a dodo, but no, when I turned the isolator on, all the instruments swept round, and so I thought, what the hell, and I gave the starter button a prod. And what do you know, the engine turned over, and pissed oil out on the garage floor. D'oh! No oil filter.

Anyway, thats the first time the engine has been tested since I collected it last year, and it sounded fine as it turned over, so when the exhaust is fitted, it really wont be very long before its runnnnnnnning.....

Daft though it may sound, it was a relief to have an engine turning over in the old girl, even if it was on the starter.
