Sounded bloody awesome Matt and you were going very well. Shame about you joining me in the broken shaft club but hopefully we'll have more luck in Talbenny.

Thanks dude, I love the sound of the bodies, I don't know if we were actually going quicker but it sounded quicker which I think is more important!!
Lost 5th gear too so a gearbox rebuild and a shaft before Talbenny!

My fault on this occasion Luke, started taking big cuts and came over a kerb with passenger wheel in the air so as soon as it hit the road again it snapped! Lesson learned

Certainly looked to be moving at a swifter pace. I hope the windmills helped

              Windmills were a great help!

              So the car is back on the ramp and I need;
              Shaft on passenger side
              New 5th gear
              Pair of new top mounts

3 weeks until rally so this all needs doing swiftly!

Glad to hear its on the mend Matt. We're hoping to have everything sussed out on mine tomorrow evening. Then a shit load of testing to see if we've solved the problem then look out in Talbenny, where hopefully we'll both have a good run.

So car 41 for the Bob Shaw Memorial Rally at Talbenny on Sunday. Gearbox needed a selector and a new 5 th gear and will hopefully be back together and in tomorrow. Shafts are ready to back in after having new cvs so should be set up for a good day.

Wait and see weather forecast now before ordering some tyres!

No, they're pugs!! I've got one finish from 3 starts in the car so far and even that one had a broken gear linkage during the day! Hopefully things will start to improve now.

Car is back together so today will include a trip to Fairfield Motorsport to buy some tyres. They deal mostly in Yokohama and are priced brilliantly as long as giving great advice on compounds etc so looking forward to getting there and parting with cash!

I suspect soft yoko 48s will be the order of the day.

Another problem filled day at Talbenny!
Day started well and we were 3rd in class out of 9 cars after the first pair of stages. From then on we had problems every stage which included my fancy gear linkage refusing to go from 2nd to 3rd and insisting on going 2nd to 5 th at every opportunity!! We also broke an engine mount and spent a stage where the vibration was so bad I couldn't catch the gear lever sometimes because it was moving around so much. We also broke both top mounts, a rear wheel arch and the gearbox casing at various points. Final straw was after fixing engine mount with seconds to spare, we got pulled by a Scrutineer who said if we didn't fix noisy exhaust then he wouldn't let us start any more stages!! Again fixed this with moments to spare at next service. These problems dropped us to 5th in class but by the end if the day a couple of retirements got us back to 35th overall and 3rd in class.
Never seen a service crew have to work so hard!!
Really pleased with setting a proper competitive pace on first few stages and hope that will now continue for the rest of the year.
Loads of things up repair now for next event which is the Dale Stages on May 25th.
Pics to follow, thanks for reading
                              Matt

Wow that car must be having a hard time with you! It is not often you see the engine mounts break. Still a really good finish considering all the problems you had!
