Re: Pushrod kings MK1 Escort race car
After a bit of encouragement from Graham I've decided to change the spec of my engine mainly the cylinder head, I've just picked picked this up from Basil the head man:

It's based on a brand new casting and will use narrow stem big REC valves with single groove collets (thanks to Bill Richards) and alloy caps that are actually made for bmc A series engines!

It flows a lot better than the head with standard valve sizes that I've used since I built the car so hopefully will give a little more power through out the rev range.Leave a comment:

Re: Pushrod kings MK1 Escort race car
The business isn't mine but does belong to my family.
Dave did the last round that I did at Brands in his silhouette, got quite close to mr Birley even in the damp! Sadly he's now sold the car as a national hot rod to Bill who owns Golding barn coachworks (for his son to race,we sponsor him too),Dave is a very old friend (when I was 13-14 I was the saturday boy at the garage that he worked at in Worthing) and taught me a lot of what I know,he's now going pick up racing so hasn't got a car. OR did you mean in mine? .............He won't fit in it!!Last edited by Pushrod King; 27-02-2010, 00:07.Leave a comment:

Re: Pushrod kings MK1 Escort race car
Just go my car back from my new sponsors Golding Barn Coachworks who repaired the damage from last year and added some sign writing.

Just need to find a new windscreen, fit a pair of head lights and the grille and the body's sorted.Last edited by Pushrod King; 26-02-2010, 20:35.Leave a comment:

Re: Pushrod kings MK1 Escort race car
No real news on the car but I managed to get a sponsor today,Demon Tweeks................They do a scheme called pole position which IF a picture of your competition car is published in certain magazines you get a £200 voucher per time it appears. If I had been on the scheme last year I would of had at least £1000 as pictures of my car appeared 5 times or more and even on local tv (courtesey of Rod Birley). The highest earner on the scheme last year was in my class,he earnt over £3k!!!!!Leave a comment:

Re: Pushrod kings MK1 Escort race car
Well IF I wanted to easily win my class I'd do a full season in the intermarques but I'm more than likely going to do another season in the DMN. Plans for the car include:
Lose weight out of both myself and the car, find some more power out of the poor little engine, better brakes, improve the handling, replace the oil cooler (started to leak at the last dmn round),replace the temp guage (stopped working in the last race) and tidy up the shell a little.
Oh and buy some wets
