Alternator brackets finished, and its bolted to the engine. Refitted the radiator, and I can focus on finishing the wiring now.

          Sausages!

Quaife are now saying that they wont go in to production with the sequential FWD box until next year. I'll have to get it all up and running with the standard box now, and keep my ears open until they start production.

              Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2

Not to worry, the demonstrator box had been driven by hacks, so the dogs were probably knackered anyway. I can still get the Fiesta running with the std IB5 box, I just need to fix the standard linkage inside the cabin, then swap it all over for the sequential when thats finally released on to the market. They must have a lot of pre-orders by now.

Wired up the air temperature sensor last night, and ordered a 4pk1240mm drive belt from Parkers at lunch time, so that'll go on tonight (Audi 2.5D engine auxiliary drive belt)

                Getting closer

                  Hi Graham,

Have you considered a SADEV sequential? Andy Baker runs one in his peugeot 205 rally car and they are superb. You need to have a chat with Steve Waudby at SWR Motorsport they have a great reputation and I'm sure they produce the dog gearkits for the ST rally cars?

                  Here's a link http://www.swrmotorsport.com/main/6_...sequential.htm

Be good to stick two fingers up at quaife as they have messed you around.

                    Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2

I'll give him a call Matt. The Sporting Trophy boys run Sadev internals, didn't know they did a full sequential. The benefit of the Quaife solution is that it has the same IB5 housing as mine, so the gearbox mounts stay in the same place.

'Things at Quaife are always hectic' whenever I enquire about progress. Not sure if thats a sign that they're struggling in the present climate, or they're just snowed under with orders. If the Fiesta boxes are being held back, I suspect they haven't had that much interest in them 8-(

I didn't really want to buy one of the two pre-production boxes. The one in the Fiesta road car they offered to sell me had been driven by press-hacks, and heaven knows what the dogs were like after all that abuse.

                      Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2

I'm pretty sure from earlier in your thread that you need new driveshafts anyway so it's be good to decide now and a mount or two shouldn't be too much hassle for the right box they are a dedicated sequential box not a compromise redesign which as we know from quaife can be troublesome like the type 9 sequential. Just look at there 60G box, proper design from scratch and it has a good reputation already. I've seen Andy Bakers car at several rallys and it's very rapid and sounds awsome with that box in, and that just with an 8V 1.9

Definitley worth a call mate, I knew Steve from when he was running my mates car in the Ford Credit Fiesta challenge for Harlow motorsport.

Graham, I used to call on Quaife as they were one of my customers, and all they ever seemed to be interested in was doing volume stuff for production cars. Their motorsport side tended to take the back seat, as the volume was never there, so it doesn't surprise me at all really that there's a long wait for that box.

If they compromise on everything else like they did on their tooling budget then I probably wouldn't buy a box of theirs for a high powered duratec.

The Gates 4PK1260 belt fits perfectly.

Now I can start ordering water hoses, header tank, and oil filter take off fittings.

Just called Steve Waudby, and spoke about the options regarding the Sadev ST75-14 box. He's sending some gen through, and I'll have a read and call him back regarding pricing/discount etc.

So, if you say the price quick enough, it doesn't sound too bad.

                              Ten Grand!

                              Not blooming likely.

And I may have issues with clearance of the Tony Law exhaust, because that doubles back over the top of the IB5, and I dont want to get another manifold made.

I'll stay with the IB5, unless a mysterious benefactor steps in or I win the lottery.

                                Re: My Mk1 Fiesta XR2

Engine bay loom is now removed from the car, and I'll commence the wiring up of the 48 way Neptune plug this evening.

Things to measure up this weekend: Oil cooler (size and position), remote filter housing with two take offs for oil pressure and oil temperature sensors, dash 10 hose lengths, and I can look at getting a header tank for the radiator and measuring up the lengths and angle of hoses to get her all plumbed in.

I sold the Compomotive wheels for £500 (to a man in Malta) so thats some more cash to spend on getting the car finished
