Re: Paul Alex's character building, pain-in-the-ar5e, bufty money pit
Have been keeping the momentum going...
Wings and front panel on
New front grill arrived
Ally arches and spoiler somewhere between Ireland and Essex
Bonnet decided on - will be ordered today
New rad turned around in under 3 days by AH Fabrications
For some reason Gary wants to play with half a race car this week, so other than ordering the bonnet, a plug for the radiator, and an ally boss to be added for the bleed pipe, I think that's all I can do.
More soon,

No pics yet Ian but I have taken the plunge and bought the Gucci bonnet that I was struggling to justify - albeit not for long
Hopefully more progress this week - need to keep some momentum.....

Re: Paul Alex's character building, pain-in-the-ar5e, bufty money pit
Hi,
Just read this thread from the beginning and have to admire your determination. If I could get my car to even 1/2 the standard of your, I would be overjoyed. (Talbot Sunbeam Tarmac Rally Car - Thread, still doing way to much), I admire your commitment. When I get anywhere near the finnish stages would love to pick your brains on spring rates etc. In the mean time I will watch for picture (so I can steal your ideas
) and look forward to seeing one of the best cars around.
Well done mate.Last edited by rallysunbeam; 04-10-2013, 06:38.The difference between men and boys... is the price of their toys!!!!Comment

Gucci bonnet arrived over the weekend, and I'm seriously happy with it...
I haven't uploaded any pics to the net yet, but the camera phone shots that I've sent to three mates have all come back with positive commentsI'll get the shots up later today hopefully....

Not great pics I'm afraid but you'll get the idea...
Top view - this side will definitely be painted, although I'm not sure about the underside yet
The thinking behind it is that you get all the air you need through the front of the car, but the hard part is drawing all the hot air out. The vents sit proud - like Polo and Fiesta WRC cars - to actively drag air from the engine bay...
There is also a wide vent across the back to help hot air at the back of the engine bay to escape...
The vents have a strong frame that mean they're not restricted to the areas inside the bonnet cross diagonal braces....
Can't wait to see it in paint and fitted now
More soon,
