Re: my new nova
That was my thinking, but it sounds like its not that clear cut.
Would be a shame if you dont make it out this season, you and the car are very impressive to watch. I can totally understand the pressure of prepping a car though, its hard to find the time sometimes.

Re: my new nova
Its only me working on the car in my spare time Nick and as i am no pro everything takes twice as long ,i was busting my arse to get it out this year thinking i was in class E but will scale back my efforts now and take my time ,maybe save up and build a stonking 1800 8 valve and get the sequential box that i would really like"Doesnt really matter as the car wont be ready for this year anyhow ,does it not say heads are free like last years regs Nick?"
No,just says that non production and motorcycle heads put the car up a class,it no longer states that the block must be original. You've still got three months to get the car ready

Re: my new nova
I reckon you'll be in D unless they clarify this : "if an engine fitted is not an original fitment or manufacturer’s option for the make and model of car the car
shall move up a class" GM didn't fit a 16v engine to a Nova ;-)Leave a comment:

Re: my new nova
Cheers James ,well i have just had a look and the tank will just fit infront of the rear beam but will be quite close to the exhaust but is certainly do able only thing is i am not sure if i will then have to box the tank inunderneath or if i can just leave it exposed ?,i know i will have to enclose the tank inside the car ,i can then use the bit i have cut out to enclose the fuel pump and filter etc.
I will have a chat with Andy and see what he thinks ,but i suspect he will say leave it as is ,just because the rear end was so stable with the old setupLeave a comment:

Re: my new nova
Nick has got me thinking now i have been pondering the tank for ages and i had made my mind up but i am going outside to see how it works as its not huge amounts of work to send the exhaust out the other side.As for when its going to be done i dont know Dave i really want a proper weld in t45 cage and keep thinking that as its a bare shell and going to be dipped now would be the ideal time but i havent really got the funds so that might have to be evo 3 or 4 ,but that could all change .i am changing so much that i will really need to do some testing before racing so i will say July time but im really aiming for the first raceMust admit I am a bit paranoid about having my tank to near to the back of the car as the sierra tends to sit higher at the back than a lot of cars and if everyone is braking hard a car could end up nose diving under my rear bumper. Seen it happen to the V8 supercars a couple of times (they have now moved there tanks to the rear seat position for that reason). Not such a problem with the nova though as its so low and would more likely just get pushed along if rear ended as its so light. As you say your tank is gonna be further forward and more central anyway.
