Crimped 25 pins, with 18 to go.
so do you do a quick post in between crimping to break up the monotony then, or are you just pacing yourself...

Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber

Commercial Propshaft Services have received the ST output cup and tri-lobe I sent them on Weds, and are starting the fabrication of the driveshaft today, with a 3 week lead time.
The shaft is unique in that it has 22 splines on the output side (outer CV/Hub end) and the inboard end uses the later Mk6 Fiesta tri-lobe bearing, which is larger than the Mk1 or Mk2 tri-lobe, and hopefully stronger. I'm retaining the intermediate shaft on the rear of the Duratec, so finally I'll have equal length driveshafts, and it'll be interesting to see if the driving experience is any easier than before with the LSD fitted.

No sign of the sequential from Quaife, so I'm going to run with the std box for the time being, which'll mean fitting the gear selector and cable from the Mk6 Fiesta. No big job, and I can revert to the sequential cable shifter when it finally arrives.

Some better pics tonight. Buzzed through all the COP and Injector wires and labelled them all up ready for insertion in to the ECU Connector. Pulled the crappy looking Duratec ST badge off the cam cover. Looks far cleaner now.

Looking quite ready now. And everything is looking very tidy. That hose in the oil lines looks nice. Is it the nylon braided Earl's one?

Am I right in thinking that this car is mainly for short tarmac events?

M-Sport wouldn't do it any better!
IIRC Graham does Sprint and HillClimbs only .

Its called Prolite 350, has a nylon outer, and is lighter than the stainless stuff, and a trillion times easier to fit. Not a single cut or punctured finger.

It can take 350Psi maximum, and I'd recommend it over the stainless Performoflex.

Fitted the new Cosworth supplied COP rocker cover last night. Now the COPs are bolted in place so they wont rattle loose.

It's good too have them screwed down for sure Graham, but just thought I'd mention that Matt never has, and on several events so far they've always been ok. They're a pretty snug fit all the same, and he always gives them a push between runs etc.

Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber

I'm sure he'll be less than impressed when he gets a stage maximum when they do finally fall off.

I have power to the ECU for the first time this evening. I dont have the cable to hand so I couldn't plug the laptop in, but the ECU does turn the radiator cooling fan on, and as it doesn't have a temp sensor feeding it yet, I can only assume it thinks the engine is hot, and its turned the fan on.

I'll be able to have a look tomorrow evening when I next venture outside.

Thats one connector down, one to go.

I did find that the crimps couldn't be inserted in to the DTA AMP connector unless the cable strain relief on the end of the crimp was perfectly round, so a few of the crimps needed nursing in to shape. But they're all in, so I should have sparks and injectors working tomorrow night too.

                      Wahoo! Almost there.

Not in over 2 years Gray so I'm not overly worried mate I will get round to getting one though, how much did they rush you for one out of interest?? Do you have a part number??

                          Here it is Matt.

The cover also looks better than the ST150 cover I had on before, so its solved more than one reason for changing it.
And I've swapped all the bolts around between the two covers, so I no longer have any on the new cover that have threaded posts sticking out the top of the stud (presumably used on the factory cars to hold the air box to the top of the cover)

                            And we almost have liftoff

                            Not long now

Injectors test out ok, as do the relays for the radiator fan and the fuel pump. The video shows me running through the diagnostics tests.

Second video shows the sparks working, using the Ford Coil On Plug coil packs, which also worked first time. 8-)
