They are quite powerfull as standard... and look at the results, fastest times on the stage, or in other words..balanced..

And then theres the bonus of if it goes puffft ... you can grab another engine from the carpark

There sure are a lot of S2000's in UK.

They "cheap" enough to keep a spare? That would make sence.

Was it 240bhp out of the box? Does theafter market ECU and ITB's improve it still? I guess it matches up to most tuned duratecs?

How about the box? STD? Does the STD engine and Box mate nicely ratio wise for rallying? Only CWP needs to be changed.

It weighs a fair bit ! Great engine though.

As for your previous post a aftermarket ecu makes a LOT of difference in terms of getting more midrange power, throttle bodies also help a little too but overall peak power isn't that much of a increase over standard, approx 255hp from a claimed 240hp standard power.

As Gary said though its a cheap engine to replace if it ever fails, which tbh is unlikely.

I believe the increase is a little more than that, around 270 is the figure in my head. Paul has a Quaife G60 gearbox.

from what i've heard in terms of peak power on an otherwise std engine ecu and throttle bodies add nothing more than a couple of bhp at peak power but do improve the midrange

That is very similar to the setup that Paul is using, I'm running a slightly different set of throttle bodies but from what I gather the gains are nigh on identical.

270?!? In my dreams Glen As has been said elsewhere, 255bhp is the figure that RED quote as what is seen on their dyno when using their latest map and throttle body spacers etc. Therefore, I'd imagine I probably only have around 245bhp.........
