      Why aren't you entered Graham?
As usual I haven't touched the car since last time! Got to change the diff as the current ratio is too high for Lydden, may leave it until I get there sunday morning.

Re: Pushrod kings MK1 Escort race car

Well.I've got an hour to spare and I actually feel like working on the car so I'm going to change the diff and give the rear end nuts/bolts a quick spanner check while I'm under there.

Re: Pushrod kings MK1 Escort race car

Had a bit of trouble in qualifying, coming along the start/finish straight there was a loud bang and the car suddenly lost all drive!! I think this may be the reason why!

Luckily it was my 8 year old 1700 engine.

rear web thats where x/flow cranks tend to fail, FF1600's which have to run std cast cranks change the crank every couple of seasons

Re: Pushrod kings MK1 Escort race car

I generally get my cranks crack tested anually but didn't for this year due to supposedly running a new engine. Is my luck this year going to get any better?.....Bloody hope so.

Things can't get much worse! It's not only the engine that's broken, the bellhousing's knackered too, plus maybe the starter motor, I won't know until I fit another engine.........Main problem I've got is that I've got nowhere to work at the moment!

I've shared the same faith than you did. Back then I was wondering is it the crank that fails or does the main bearing cap start to give. Well I did not go for the steel main caps... I went for the Pinto. But could you give the steel main a some thought.
