Just caught up with this Nick, I have to say that when I heard you'd snapped a crank I was expecting to see something a lot less catastrophic than that I haven't seen one that bad in ages, you done a proper job on that, you must be picking bits of it out of your teeth still
Hope your luck changes now and you have a few bits to get things back together. Let us know if you need any help, we need to make sure all of our cars can get back out there asap to get the series back to where we were last year. There isn't much time left this year but I think we can make next season a real corker with all the TS cars back out

Well, time to update my thread.... After the blow up I decided to push to get the 1800 engine sorted so got on the 'phone/keyboard and tried to source some pistons after two of them were ruined due to the jetting error.......I was told I'd have to get some made and I'd have to order a minimum of 3 sets which would take 14 weeks...no good to cut a long story short I found out who Accalite made my pistons for in the 1st place and got on the 'phone,it turns out that mine were an incorrectly supplied batch (that's why Accralite sold them to me)and that the renowned tuner who specced them wanted long rod items and had a set of long rod ones that I could buy..........This meant a rethink of my engine as to go long rod I'd need steel rods so after much thinking I ordered a set of wide journal rods to go with the cast crank that I was using but then had a change of mind and went against my usual ethos and decided to go all steel and narrow journal but then couldn't get hold of a good quality crank so spoke to IKEngineering and arranged to buy a crank and rod set from him only for him to turn funny when I tried to arrange payment and collection with him hanging up on me and then not taking my calls!! A BIG let down as I'd arranged to build the engine at a good friends' place over that coming weekend as I was racing the following saturday(I had just moved house and hadn't sorted my workshop out). So I got on the 'phone again and eventually found a supplier who had a quality crank in stock but it didn't leave enough time to dummy build the engine and get any machining done (pistons needed .8 mm taken off) so I lost my entry fee for that meeting and due to my friends schedule ( he races pick up trucks and is chief mechanic in Lea Woods bttc team) couldn't build the engine until the thursday before the next race at Brands Hatch which was on the sunday so instead of running the engine in and getting it set up on the rollers we guessed the jetting and I resolved myself to using lower revs than I usually do. Race report will follow
Are you entered for Brands Nick ,i have posted my entry so with a bit of luck i will be there thats if i can get the car out of its tent as at the moment it is blocked in by band stands scaffold boards and a ton bag of sharp sand
Brands hatch 15th August 2010. Qualifying: Due to the engine being brand new and not really being set upI took it gently for the 1st ten laps but went for it on laps 11-13 I didn't expect to set a very good time so it was a surprise to find that I'd set a 58.345 on the last lap which was good enough for 14th overall and 3rd out of the 6 cars in class E.
Race 1: Made an ok start and managed to gain several places by going around the (slippery) outside at Druids hairpin and spent a good few laps dicing with a couple of cars which I usually can't stay with only to have the gearbox jam in 4th coming into Paddock hill bend! I dropped back and spent 1/2 a lap in 4th (including the 2nd gear hairpin) hitting the gearlever trying to free it,I managed to do so and spent the rest of the race cruising to the end luckily I was far enough ahead of the other cars in my class to finish 16th overall and 3rd in classE setting a best time of 55.647 along the way.
Race2: Having diagnosed the gearbox problem as broken 3rd-4th gear baulk rings,I decided to just see how I got on in the 2nd race,I made a good start and was up to 10th overall on lap 1 and spent the whole of the 1st 1/2 dicing with the class e Nova and class c zetec powered mk2 fiesta until the saftey car was deployed because a car had gone off into the gravel trap at druids, the safety car waved the back past until the leaders were behind it myself, the nova and the cars behind us were held up behind a backmarker who had problems and couldn't keep up with the pack, at the restart I lined up to overtake the nova and scooby as we went across the line but the nova driver braked before the line as I was accelerating,I did the last 3 laps covering the inside of the corners and not letting him past and finished 2nd in class E only to have a 1 second penalty after Graham Richardson complained that I overtook before the line after the safety car pulled off to the clerk of the course! I finished 14th overall and 3rd in class setting a best time of 55.553 (my best ever time was a 55.479) not bad for a new engine and considering that the tyres are shot!
I'll leave Nick to do a write up on todays race at Brands as he has another one tomorrow but just to say well done on another class win, and in very tricky conditions that caught out quite a few drivers
I'm sure he'll thank me for these pics

Well done Nick, it was a shame i didnt make the race i reckon we could of had a good battle i might have been as difficult to pass as that other nova:
Roll on next year
Time for me to update the thread and add a race report or three: Brands Hatch 30th October; Qualifying went well on a wet/drying/greasy circuit, despite being on slicks and not having a clear run due to there being 34 cars on track and the reds coming out early I managed to set a 103.323 which put me 13th on the grid and 2nd in class (which became 1st in class after Jezs trip into the gravel trap),to my amazement I'd out qualified both Richard Brent (105.503) and Bill Richards (103.574).
Race 1: starting behind the blue 3dr cossie of Peter Taylor and 20v Turbo Golf of Steve Dann and with faster higher class cars behind me I expected to get swallowed up into the 1st corner but thanks to a very slow rolling start and wet weather I was able to out accerate the cossie and get on the tail of the #48 subaru impreza into paddock hill bend,by the end of lap 1 I was up to 10th overall but Richard Brent had somehow got up to 12th from his 24th place start,on lap two I was less than 2 seconds behind the subaru but there was a crash at paddock which necessitated a safety car period,Richard Brent also made an uncharictaristic mistake and had also gone off at paddock! Although I was 8th overall when I saw this I stopped trying so hard and actually dropped back a bit after the safety car went in eventually finishing 15th overall but 1st in class E
