Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber
nice work on the rear beam,
hopefully nothing will flex, the reason 99% of brake calipers are mounted at 3 and 9 oclock is that those points minimise pad knock off due to things flexing, mounting at 6 or 12 oclock will have the opposite effect
Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber
what happens is the hubs/spindles etc etc bend under hard cornering which pushes the caliper piston back, if everything is rigid enough you wont experience any issues, if its not then your notice a longer brake pedal after a hard corner
Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber
Does anyone know the brake pad type I need for the HiSpec 76 x 65 x14mm brake pads?
The nearest equiv I can find in the Demon Tweeks catalogue is for the one on page 329, Mitsubishi EVO-VIII rear also Lotus Elise Front, at 76.7mm x 65.2mm x 15mm.
Most of the calipers in the HiSpec catalogue just shows 76 x 65 x 14mm.
Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber
Bugger! I emailed Quaife asking if they could invoice me for the sequential box, so I could avoid the VAT rate rise in 2010.
"Many thanks for your email. We are still having problems in getting this product into production at the moment due to the high increase in other products we manufacture and unfortunately the Fiesta sequential has been put back more and more.
If you could come and see us at the Autsport Show on our stand E133, we can discuss our plans then."
Does anyone have Tractive's contact details? I've emailed the contact on their website (June 2009) but never rxd a reply.

Chatting to Elite Racing Tranmissions about their sequential offerings, and Sadev has said "no can do" regarding discount, other than offering to pay P&P.
May well stick with the IB5, and rebuild with Quaife internals, then progress to sequential when it eventually sees the light of day. Keep thinking I should change for another manufacturer, but would most likely make the Tony Law system scrap, and other stuff I've done to accomodate the IB5.
Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber
I'll take whatever discount I can, of course, but just discounting the P&P is a bit of a piss take.
Hell, if you dont ask....
Fitted the carbon battery box to the floor last night, and soldered the terminals on to the ends of the battery cable, and the -ve terminal is now connected to the foot of the roll cage (as before).
Will work on the isolator and +ve connections tonight.
The web camera is back on-line now. Still flashes all the time, because of all the bot attacks, but its working.
The radiator is now fitted, as is the grill and front panel modification. I will also wire up the twin Spal radiator fans over the hols.
