    Thanks 8-)

Battled with the gear selector cables for 30mins tonight. Even tho I can get them both to sit in their corresponding U brackets on the 'box, only 1 of the 2 orange pins locks in place, and I can easily pop them out of the U brackets.

    Help!

Not really. Need a close up of the mechanism that locks the cables on the box,
I may just remove the metal bracket from the box so I can get a better look.

Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber

Fitted the gear linkages last night, and the gear lever is now mounted in the car, and connected to the cables. done.new water temp sensor arrived this morning from dta.
Axle bar is also finished, and I should have that on Monday.
Posted cheque off to active sensors for the RP5110 throttle sensor.

Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber

              Gear linkage now fitted

I will wrap the cables in heat protection where they pass close to the exhaust manifold, and I'll make a blanking plate where they pass through the bulkhead.

Need to find a carbon gear level knob now.

Not carbon, but still looks quite cool.....

Or there's this one, if you can bring yourself to buy something from 'Monstermodz' *shudders*

i've got a black nylon ralliart one i used to have fitted to mine

i think carbon knobs are tacky

i've now got a white nylon quaife one on mine

I wonder if I can get one with a microswitch in it for flat gear shifting?

is that not something covered in your ecu?

my omex required a clutch switch fitted for full throttle gear changes, although i've since unplugged it as it wasn't working exactly as i'd have liked

I'll plumb in a pressure switch in the hydraulic clutch line instead. 8-)

Speaking of hydraulic clutch, just how do I go from braided or copper nickel lines to the nylon push on pipe that the gearbox requires?

                          nylon push-on?

i'm unsure, i modified the aluminium fitting that came on the bearing (that was in the box when i bought it) to fit the end of the original hydraulic pipe i had.

i presume the best thing to do would be make an aluminium fitting complete with o-ring and clip that fits into the release bearing, then drill and tap the back for a threaded union of your choice that connects to your line/pipe

Gear lever mech is now fitted as far back as I could get it, and botled with M8 socket head s/s bolts.
Tapped the water housing m12x1.5 and fitted the Bosch sensor, and the ecu now shows the right water temp. The old sensor went in the bin.

what was the problem with the Gear linkage Graham?

There's a flat side on the linkage retaining mech, and that's the side that's inserted in to the U bracket, not the opposite rounded side. Figured it out eventually.
