270?!? In my dreams Glen As has been said elsewhere, 255bhp is the figure that RED quote as what is seen on their dyno when using their latest map and throttle body spacers etc. Therefore, I'd imagine I probably only have around 245bhp.........

Although its 'only' around 245bhp that is on a pretty standard engine which must make it a lot more driveable than some of the highly strung 300+ 16Vs out there, which I guess would help a lot in rallying. I know that in tricky conditions on a race circuit it is the more driveable engine that you'd want rather than something peaky and often less is more in that situation.

Is 270 what you WANT it to be then mate? I'm sure you mentioned that figure once upon a time, but perhaps that was with more headwork and cams? I dunno.

Hi Glen,

I'd imagine that 270 would be at the far end of what is possible with the 2.0litre without changing internals - which would obviousy then be going against the philosophy of staying standard and saving any major wallet-bashing engine issues.

I seem to remember that they're only quoting something like 280ish for a 2.4 version - but obviously with more torque. That could be of interest in the future, but not until we've seen how far we can go with the 2.0 against Vauxhall's, Duratecs, Cossies, BD's, Millington's etc etc

Only staying standard with the engine mate - the more we can modify everything else away from what can be done off the shelf, the better

Did you enjoy yourself? That's the main thing.

Aside from all the mechanical issues how did you feel you drove? Obviously the times were good and the spec of the car is high so you must have drove well.

Hi John,

Yes, it was great to be back competing after such a long break, and to nail 8 consecutive fastest-in-class stage times, especially by a fair margin, was good for the confidence. The venue really wasn't much of a drivers venue in my opinion (although obviously speed is in the smallest of details), so the car must be quite good.

Although its a bit depressing looking at car at the moment, a number of the areas that I was never 100% sure about can now be done to a higher standard - so I'm looking forward to that...
