No mate, that's another couple of weeks away yet. Rest assured the bloody thing is still playing up as always - the bonnet doesn't fit lol

Its funny - since I've been calling this thing my "Problem Child" it seems to be behaving First, the weather was dry when we picked it up from Garys a couple of weeks ago, then we got a great day for transporting it down to the Legend that is Shaun at SP Race Paint yesterday

As you can see, we overcame the issues fitting the bonnet. Basically, because the custom ally front panel supports the radaitor slightly further away from the engine (and lower), the rad cap now fouls on the underside of the bonnet. I sorted this with a couple of hours with the needle file set (as I cant find my dremel anywhere!), and now it fits better than the old bonnet ever did It was a pain in the backside, but the extra inch clearance between the radiator and electric water pump should make working in the car on events that bit easier.



Lee, Shaun and I then spent a couple of hours picking more little details out for Shaun to repair before he repaints the front end. Nothing serious, mainly welding up some original/standard holes into the engine bay to keep it cleaner, and welding up the old holes that we cut for the Honda wiring loom and washer bottle (now replaced into cockpit).

All being well, there will be more positive steps forward over the next couple of weeks

take the vents out paint them satin black, and leave the bonnet in plain carbon look!

Well, the good news is that Shaun hasn't painted it green - although he has threatened to do it in pink if it has to return to his place anytime soon

We picked the car up from Shaun's on Saturday morning, and got straight back on it on Sunday, with Lee, Smiffy and I soon back into the swing of rebuilding it. I have to say it feels great to have it home after all this time - its like having a new hobby - and I've already done my norm and found something about the old install I now don't like - so have ideas on how to tidy things up a little.....

I'm not sure how or why, but we all agree that the engine bay looks even smarter than before. It's the same colour, by the same painter, so we're putting it down to us having a few of the standard/spare holes welded-up, allowing a smoother look. The removable front panel also works better than the old one, so its all good

First pic showing the radiused cooling ducts through the front panel, and the now deeper "standard" two vents on the front panel. Ignore the bonnet alignment - we adjusted the pins and hinges on Sunday and its right now....



Next up, the bonnet vents look like they may be big enough The front arches are also a fraction wider than before, and the front spoiler has a different lip that we like more. The wire visible on the N/S inner wing is the air temperature sender that I need to fit into the front panel this week. You can't tell from here, but it also has new ally/lightweight bonnet hinges rather than the old drilled steel ones....



And one of the engine back in its home. It looks much better here than sitting on my Black and Decker workbench for the past 9 months The new radiator is away with a friend to have a boss welded to it , then that'll be back in later in the week.



All being well, the water plumbing will be complete this week, and we'll be in a position to prime the dry-sump system and start her up at the weekend. If that happens, then it'll be new carbon quarter bumpers and a headlight next week and "finished" over the long Easter weekend......
