Yeah your right, not one of the M3 boys came over so none of them would have seen the engine.

They had the legs of me on the straight, well some of them did, but through the bends they were holding me up half the time so I did waste quite a few laps trying to avoid them.
Have to say though the E30 M3 evo that was there was stunning and I wouldn't have minding having a dozen of them, out there

me thinks your now glad you didnt actually start your racing explots with a megga complicated and brutally powerfull twin turbo somint, thers so much more to racing and a good race car then telephone number power plants

Yeah thats true Graham, this car is so forgiving and nice to drive and the small amount of power it has (relatively) is so useable that you can just stand on the throttle mid bend and it just goes.
That is apart from round clearways where getting on the power too early had the sierra wagging its tail but sometimes that was needed as the car was washing out a little. Something that a bit of setting up will cure, I'm sure.

having said that the essex was never anything particularly good was it?

actually the essex was a good if very heavy engine, its basically combustion chamer/piston design it was a v6 x/flow, but with lots of torque rather than huge bhp, quite tunable 200bhp is easy and about 240 is possible without going extreme, it also spawned the GAA. which although as rare as rocking horse poo was one hell of an engine, 3.4, dohc 24v and about 450bhp atmo

that said a bmw M30 engine can do every thing an essex can only more so, can you imagine a 4.0 6 cyl version of my race car engine
