If possible. The aim is to run it on some test sessions this year and any races that are left. It needs to be properly sorted and going well for the start of next season basically.

Latest additions are a set of black sfs boost hoses to match the coolant ones, complete with mikalor clamps, a nice inline oil filter for the turbo (also thanks to Mr Bahr) and a bailey dump valve.
The Bailey DV is off a 200sx so might be a twin piston DV26 rather than a DV24 so not sure if it will make a difference. The DV26 is for airflow meter cars. Is there anyway of telling which it is??

I also fitted a 3bar map sensor to an alloy plate under the strut brace but you cant quite see it in the pic

i cant see any of it as all i get is siggy pictures over most pictures posted on here lol


edited i can now pmsl,why you used them on the airfilter dave,would normal clips not been ok on there m8?those mikolar clips work best on the boost hoses dont they?looks nice tho

Yep, true Piggy. The airbox probably needs no clamp at all, but as i had one I'm using it. Better safe than sorry

Just need to find out if I need to take the dump valve apart to see which one it is or maybe either would be ok on my car

Thanks to having an old T3 turbo that I've borrowed off of a good friend i have been able to mount both the downpipe and the exhaust system to the car. It all fitted as it should with a new poly mount on the rear and in the centre I have made two hangers which attach to the system with a diamond shaped poly bush on either side of the floor.
It is all really nice and solid now but I may still make up a couple of check straps which will hang loosely around the system in case anything tries to rip it off





Also got my sump back from Doug at SFS who are a TS sponsor and if you haven't seen one of his before it is a real nice piece of kit Hopefully along with a good breather system this should be the next best thing to having a dry sump set up and the plumbing will be nice and neat

Graham will be starting the build of the YB very soon, in the meantime I need to sell the pinto in order to finance some of the more expensive parts of the new engine, such as rods and pistons. Its hard to part with the pinto but money is tighter these days as I guess it is for most people.

Time for a decent update. After much deliberation and crunching a lot of numbers I have come to the conclusion that the best way forward with the car is to stay N/A. Having my lovely pinto sitting there has been really making me think and with the prices of cosworth engines pretty high now for something complete but totally unknown the decision was made.

The car will now be running with the dry sumped linford pinto bottom end with new pistons and a reworked N/A YB head.
Graham will be building the head with new cams, solid lifters and a fair bit of porting, which along with 12.5:1 forged pistons and my current throttle bodies should see a healthy power figure. Although this new set up will be around 100bhp short of the turbo set up we were planning I have been able to remove a considerable amount of weight from the car and hopefully won't have affected the brilliant handling of the car which no doubt the heavy turbo bits would have. The car should drive a lot nicer too in respect to throttle response etc. I know that with a tad more power than the pinto could give me I'd have been killing most of the turbo cars on wet tracks and keeping up with a lot of them in the dry too.

Eventually I'd like to see 240-250bhp from the N/A YB but I'll still be happy if our first effort can get over 220 as this will still be an improvement over the old 190ish I had with little or no extra weight.

The engine bay is now a lot lighter, tidier and less complicated, plus heat should be less of an issue. I need to look at exhaust manifolds next and I can go for longer trumpets on the jenveys as the inlet manifold is about a 3rd of the length of my pinto one.

Most of the plumbing, wiring and mocking up is complete now, just an exhaust manifold and a catch tank are missing.





Note that battery tray and dry sump tank have been refitted.

The right move in my opinion mate, that'll be LOVELY! Matt's YB was only around the 230bhp mark remember, and look how strong that was! The best manifold he had was a Tony Law one, they are beautifully made and well worth the extra money. Matt said the engine was much smoother with its introduction too. Good luck with it!
