    Re: David White's - Mk2 Escort - Cosworth V6 Turbo

    Cheers for comments guys, plumbed the extinguisher today and John (Pipe) started to make the rad mounts

    Think i'd better get the front end back now, kinda only looks like half a car at the moment

    Oh and I must stress that our race cars are run on a very very tight budget but fitting cheap parts is usually a false economy in the long run which is why I'm trying to fit decent stuff everywhere this time, where possible, including the plumbing and brakes The idea behind the brake lines is that all of the parts can be moved and put back quickly without fear of ruining or kinking the pipes

            Re: David White's - Mk2 Escort - Cosworth V6 Turbo

            One or two updates this weekend, I've been making my dash panel to hold all the main gauges and warning lights and Andy has been busy making the all new wiring loom (pics to follow once its layed in the car again). Loom is nearly complete, just some plugs and a bit more loom tape. Then Andy can start on the stand alone ecu loom which we have the diagrams to already

            Anyways, back to the dash... well its somewhat lighter than the origional metal escort dashboard that was cut out It is mounted off of the big 3/4" rosejoint for the steering column.
            All I have to do is fit the oil light to one side and a shift light next to the ignition one. Oh and buy an 80mm Elliot revcounter in the week.

            As you can see all gauges will be perfectly visible through the wheel

            Black box behind gear lever is for all of the switches, relays, fuses and start button;

            Big thanks to Andy for making up the loom double quick today

                  Nice one I would think twice about an Elliot rev counter though. My brother and Icky (orange ht powered mk2) have one in their mk2's and all they do is flicker or pack up altogether,my brothers one has packed up for the 2nd time now. Its worth spending a little bit more for the stack ST200,basically a clubman spec rev counter,and you can set it up on any amount of cylinders you want,like on waisted ignition on a 4 cylinder car you would have it set up for 2 cylinder etc etc.

                    As a second opinion I have/had an Elliot rev counter in my Escort. Bought it 2nd hand ex formula ford and it has been 100% perfect in the time I've had it and very accurate Mine is connected to the ECU rev counter output pin so maybe that is a cleaner more reliable output compared to running it off of the coil?

                      Yeah it will run off the ECU which should be a perfect signal, plus Andy has used an Elliot for years in the racecar with hi revs and a lot of vibration without any probs

                      Will look into it this week Kev, must admit the Elliots aren't as cheap as they used to be either so there is less of a jump up to a stack.
                      Any ideas on where to find the best prices for tachos, everywhere seems to be catching up with Demon thieves now

                        My brothers is connected to the ecu output also. Icky's was to the coil. With the stack one its just a smooth accurate reading everytime with a peak recall button facility . You could try Mike Rainbird at R&B motorsport on passion fight for a stack one. Or just use demon thieves,they are the main agent for stack in the uk. And they are about the same price as other dealers when i checked before. Bigdave used this firm for stack dash:
