    Re: David White's - Mk2 Escort - Cosworth V6 Turbo

Thanks for the quick reply Graham, my returns look like this with a proper boss tigged onto each side of the sump and push on type fittings.

Where do I buy/pinch those drain fittings for the turbos?

        David,

Have been admiring your car to the point that I am building similar type nosepiece to my car for next season (Zakspeed style MK1 Opentracker). Could you describe the attachment system you use - I see four pins on the horizontal surface of the hood, is there anything else, on sides for example? You dont seem to have hinges so anytime you need to open the bonnet at least 2 persons are required, right?

        Thanks,

        Avo

Thanks Avo, the whole front end uses four bonnet pins and it also slots over a large disc on each side behind the front wheels. The weight is also supported across the front by the splitter/undertray that goes back to the crossmember, although this isn't fitted at the moment to give more access to the engine.

Oh and yes it is a 2 man job to lift it off, I was thinking of cutting the nosecone into a separate piece that stays on the car (quick release) allowing the rest to hinge up like a normal bonnet but for now it's staying as it is I think to save time

OK I see the disc on some pictures. Separate undertray seems like a good idea. But I think I need a system to be able to open the nose by myself, might have to develop a sliding hinge system to pull it forward and tilt.

If you leave the section behind the wheels attached to the car there should be space for it all to hinge upwards, although like I say I'd rather have the nosecone as a separate piece like an RS as this is where most of the weight is. The nose can still be quick release to aid access but would be a one man job with no more than 4 fixings or pins.

This is what i'm doing to mine once I can bring myself to put an airsaw near the paint again

Thats the plan atm, just getting as much of the engine done as poss and once Andy's back we can get all the wiring loom for the engine in there.

                    Look no tie wraps
The airfilters are all mounted now and I've fitted some nice colour coded shields to stop some of the crap getting in them off of the tyres

Could have fitted my new actuators too but I have the wrong brackets for them, I think mine must be cossie and I need rs turbo ones, or vice versa I need the very offset ones and not the central mounting ones like I have
