      Need input from jason then.
Paul at coordsport.net has sent an enquiry off to Ford too.

Looks like a piece of hex ally, turned down, with a hole through the centre. Can't be difficult for someone to make one of those for me...

I want one of those dot com !!!

Fuel lines are plumbed in, and I could now start the engine, but I have no water hoses as yet, so you'll have to wait a tiny bit longer 8-)

Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber

M-Sport sells a push fit -4 adapter for the new Fiesta R2, that fits the same gearbox as mine, so I'll get one ordered in the morning.
Fitted the driveshaft this evening. Fits perfectly.
Started aligning the crank posn sensor, using the tool that adam loaned me, but I need to borrow my dad's dial gauge which he's dropping off tomorrow. So I'll set it up tomorrow evening.

First time since installing the duratec that I've had both front wheels connected by driveshafts so its another milestone reached tonight.

Those driveshafts look great! And its always nice to be able to fit something straight away without having to modify it or everything around it.
Now its only the water hoses and you can get the engine running.

What sort of airfilter were you planning on using or are you going to leave it out (I'm fishing for ideas since I'm all out in my project) ?

Probably an ITG foam element. Not much room for one with a fancy back box.

Linky to the R2 parts manual.

why do you need the dial gauge?

i thought you just put a bolt through the crank pulley which bolts into a thread on the block, then you just position the sensor accordingly

oh, and on roller barrels, a decent filter is a neccessity or they'll seize up

yep spot on, if your timing is set up correctly the bolt thru the pulley will put it in the right place

Bolt. Pulley. Hmm, sounds simpler. Wonder if I have access, given the proximity of the engine to inner wing. I'll have a looksee tonight.

about a 20mm bolt, M6 I think should do it
