Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber

Lee at SFS called this morning to confirm that the hoses will be posted today, for delivery tomorrow.
Fitted the throttle cable. And fitted heat shroud to the steering rack.

Fitted the M-Sport hydraulic clutch adaptor pipe last night, with the 6mm ID x 2mm O-Ring from www.bearingstation.co.uk

Question: Is my .7 master cylinder going to be 'ok' with the ST slave in the gearbox? I guess I'm pioneering again, so no one really knows until I try it.

Refitted the lower rear engine mount, since Tony Law took it off in May 09. I've fitted it back on, but using longer bolts so the tie bar is held in place more securely since it passes through both parts of the U brackets, with the steady bar running along the side. I did want the bar in the centre of both U brackets, but the zorst manifold sits in the way. Took me 3/4 of an hour to do it, but its something else I no longer have to worry about.

Sleeved the lambda sensor cable where it exits the exhaust. Ordered a 6mm solderless nipple off ebay, for the throttle linkage. Again, poor show from Titan, it should really be in the kit of bits supplied with the TB's.

SFS said yesterday that the hoses were being despatched, and I should get them today... If they arrive, thats the weekends job to plumb her in and fill her up with anti-freeze.

A big box of hoses has arrived.........

I shall commence the countdown to liftoff.
              T-2 days and counting....

Assuming its all there, and I have no leaks of course.

Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber

Top hose id is a little bit bigger than the rad and water housing, so I'll use two clips on each end so it stays on.
Is there anything else I can use to reduce the id of the hose, or increase the od of the rad and housing ?

there are a load of reducing slipbungs that come with the Davies Craig Water pumps, most people would never use them, but they would be ideal, if you can find someone (in the UK) who could send you theirs

Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber

Seems to fit ok. Rad od is 32mm and pipe id is 35mm, but the jubilee clip seems to hold it on alright. Time will tell.

All fitted. Not happy with the 45cm long hose that runs across the width of the rad. That'l sag when its got water inside it. Can you get custom length 32mm od alloy water tubes? With swaged ends.

If it does develop a leak Graham, you could just get some rubber matting, something about 1 or 2mm thick and cut a strip off that.

                            Thanks. I'll shop around.

So will it work is the question?

Water inlet on the front routes upwards, 6 inches, then across the rad and down 12" to the outlet from the rad. Time will tell.
As long as I eliminate air pockets, it should be ok.

are we good for a fire up then the most anticipated fire up on here that i can remember

is the pipe diameter measured at the flair of the pipe or on the actual pipe itself?
if it was me id make sure i put the clip on the hose as close to the flair as possible this should prevent it from leaking

I stole 10mins at lunch time to shorten a couple of hoses, so the water hose that runs along the width of the rad is lower than the height of the rad. I'll tighten everything tonight and fill her with water.

Just the throttle linkage to adjust. Hopefully I'll get permission to do some more work tonight 8-)
