Qualifiying was wet ... now us lot be fair weather people, we normally hang on to the vain hope that the sun will come out, but alas, no way, so the 'wets' and I use the term losely, went on, think they have only been on the car 3 times, and one of those times was at Lydden.. Gemmas proudest moment (in joke) ...
Anyway, Andy went out and did his 3 laps.. 3 laps of sliding all over the place, anyone of my age may remember the skateboard wheels called 'alberts' ...rock hard lumps of nylon ... well thats Andys 'wets'
So, back of the grid for Race 1...
Its dry so the slicks are one... YAY!!!!! Andy can use full throttle... or can he, every time he hits the loud pedal, the car feels sluggish, its flat..holding back.. he struggles on, but fearing engine damage, comes in, cant see nothing amiss, but, better safe than sorry..
Back in the paddock we look around, and spot the problem, with the new injection the pedal throw has changed, and with the slight increase in throttle pedal throw meant the arm was pushing into the front brake bias clevis, and pushing the front circuit on.... thats why it didnt show on the rollers..
Temp fix to that for race two..
Race two.. dry and on slicks.. no trouble with the throttle.. good to go.
Race starts and then stops, safety car comes out.. 4 laps i think, then we're off..well most are, Andy comes by, looks ok, next lap hes dropped back and it sounds like Scoobie.. Next lap he pulls into the pit, its on 3, one cylinder short of a good engine.. back to the paddock after checking the obvious..
Back at teh van and a few checks reveal that no2 injectors lead has broken a wire...
Good points...
The car came back looking like it did before it went out..
The car worked well when it was working..
Andy was grinning..
John and Steve were back to arguing with each other..
David and myself were taking the micky out of Andy..
And Alex managed to get the old escort sideways again ...
So, all in all .. we like the sun, the throttles and easy fix so is the injector leads... with a belt and braces approach too.
Like Andy said.. we'll do a trackday to double check, and then its back to putting the Old Yella Escort back at teh top of its Class.Comment

A frustrating day in one way, but as bigger teams than us say 'thats what happens when you do your testing in public!'
All of the problems we had are new, but easily solved and hopefully Andy will get a proper run next time out to prove what the escort can still do. All in all still a great day out
