Sunday i layed the carbon up into the mould for the centre console. I am going to give it a week to let it cure and then next weekend i will attempt to get it out the mould. I have to say that it went well with the carbon. In its natural form it is very delicate, but if the top looks any where near as good as the inside i will be very pleased.
I also started the engine up and it now ticks over. Just need to balance the throttle bodies and it will sound sweet as a nut. As it was on the stands it was only right that i tried the sequential up to 6th for the first time after owning it for two years! I hope it becomes a more natural feeling, as all i kept doing was trying to wiggle the stick as if to check it was in neutral!!

Good to hear its getting there Paul
How easy was the carbon work? I've got a steel false floor under the pedal-box at the moment, but a carbon jobbie that fits the tunnels, bulkhead, cage etc would be the icing on the cake

Its been very time consuming so far. But a lot of that time was spent making the mdf mould. I would guess that it would be quicker to just take a mould of the floor and then lay the carbon over that. It would need less sanding to get it flat and smooth. Your plan would be great and finish off the interior.
I've had another good weekend on the wiring. I've managed to strip out all the loom - again! I've thrown some cables around for the circuits that need a relay. So that is the spots, up and down, rad fan, heated screen left and right. Then i moved on to the gauges that i have fitted on the passenger side of the dash which is a volt meter, water temp and oil pressure.
I've got the feeds in for the fuel pumps as well. Doesn't sound much but its moving forward. Its surprising how long the wiring takes. It will be worth it though.
Also finished the carbon console - which has paid off in the end. That has taken hours and hours from start to finish but i am very pleased with the finished result.
From the cardboard concept...
To the finished item....
Its still wet in this photo, but i hope it looks as good when its dried.
Nice work there Paul, thats a great finish. I don't think I'd like to attempt it as I still have nightmares over my limited fibreglass experience!!! Horrible sticky stuff!!
Struggling today with motivation again - trying to get my head around the headlight wiring.
After looking at the wiring diagrams that i have, am i right in thinking that the feed for the lights goes to the column switch, then through the fuse, and then to the lights? Same with the
Do you fuse the power to the ignition switch or not?
Oh this all seemed such a good idea three years ago!!!
Paul, the feed to the light switch should be fused, this then goes to the light switch on the (RH side) column, which feeds the parking lights, and the dip/head switch on the LH side of the column, the head lights are then fed from this switch.
Regarding the ignition fuse, I bought a universal Rebel Wire loom kit when I was doing my car, and it didn’t fuse the ignition switch feed, but it did have a fusable link, which is basically a slow burning fuse, I’ve kept this link, but I might remove it in the future and replace it with a high ampage fuse, because if it blows it would put me out of a rally. Id be interested to know does a professional rally loom have a fuse or a fusable link.
