Mine is coming, the front and the back now done, so could roll if some wheels were put on it.

          No brakes yet.

Need to get some plumbing and wiring under control.

Engine (warrior/holbay) due for building over the next 2 weeks as block all machined and ready for action. Valves need lapping in.

We machined pistons also for clearance due to long rods.

Seeing your video and going to monteberg last weekend has got me wet.

Mate, monteberg, through the woods after the pub looked like a ploughed field! You would have gone down through it like a pin ball off those banks! Gnarly stuff.

Poor entry this year too, only 48 internationals, versus 121 on national event on the sunday.

          Bit of a shame.

How is your gear box performing? looks sweet - it is the 50g yeah? (asked you that before...)

          Nice stripes on that feline.

Well here is the same section of road from another stage. I was just beginning to build my confidence and push on a bit more - then the hail arrived after this one!

I've not got any photos of the new engine fitted in, but you get the idea!

                          Re: My MK2 Rally car

Ok after some advice / help please!

The clutch was biting right at the end of the pedal at Down Ampney, so much so that i had to lift it up with my foot! Now the clutch was slipping, so i wound the clevis fork on the master cylinder on the pedal box right up to the end of the thread of the push rod so that it is as close to the cylinder as possible. In my head i thought that this would lower the biting point to half way, rather than the top. At this point i also bled it again and got some air out of the system.

But i test drove it again, and i only have to touch the throttle pedal when going along and it revs up so quickly - but its just slips.

The system is a landrover slave cylinder on the outside of the bell housing, i have some movement in the clutch arm when it is all static. The clutch i have is a super clutch rally one which i think is the best you can get. Have i fucked the clutch up or is there something else that i can look at tomorrow?

The clutch did slip when it was on the rollers with the old engine and that was an AP twin paddle clutch.

Would air in the system cause this? The braided hose that goes from the tunnel to the slave cylinder isn't in the greatest of condition so i wonder if it might be that letting a bit of air in?

Nothing like a bit of last minute prep for a rally! - I promised myself that i wasn't going to do it so last minute as well!!!

                            Re: My MK2 Rally car

                            Hi Paul,
You should not really have to adjust the cylinder on the pedal box, adjustment should be on the slave cylinder?
Have you deffiently got free play on the clutch fork as it sounds like the clutch is almost engaged leading to the slip?
Air in the system would not cause it to slip, air in the system would make it hard to get in gear,
Hope that makes sense and gives you some other things to look at?
                            Cheers
                            James

                              Thanks James.

So I need to space the slave further back then or shorten the push rod? What I dont understand is that when im underneath the car the clutch arm is as far back as it will go? Bizzare! - would I maybe have glazed the friction plates if It was slipping for the last rally? Or nackered the diaphram which would reduce the pressure to return the clutch arm back?

So is the clutch fork up tight against the back of the bellhousing/box?
That would cause the clutch to slip as the clutch would be slightly engaged, maybe a different release bearing as in shorter req?
