Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber

She's full of water tonight. Around 6.5 litres in all.
Just the Titan linkage to slot in place. Once the 6mm solderless nipple is on the throttle cable, you have to take the linkage barrel adjuster off to let you hook the cable on. So some more cut knuckles to look forward to tomorrow night.

I span the engine over with plugs fitted tonight, and even without fuel and ignition, she sounds like she really wants to run. Looking forward to tomorrow evening......

Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber

No water leaks overnight. Taken the day off so I can get her running.
Already 20c in the garage. It was 27c at 9:30 last night.

So fit linkage, triple check everything. Connect laptop. Push button. Simples...

Re: Grahamb's Mk1 Fiesta XR2 Duratec HE Hillclimber

Had to go out and get another throttle cable. The 6mm solderless nipple is IMPOSSIBLE to fit without taking the Titans off.

Cable now fitted, so that the solderless nipple is on the throttle pedal.

              Trumpets fitted.

Just the earth lead left to connect. Having a break as my 2yr old needs collecting from pre-school and wifey needs to be on fire extinguisher duties when I start the engine.

                    Stuck childminding now 8-(

Just the throttle pedal left to connect. Small water leak where I removed/refitted the alloy water housing over the gearbox. Nipped the bolts up. She's charged, ready to go. It'll have to be after the kids are in bed, and wifeys been to B&Q to get some stuff for the garden. So post 8pm, I'll let her ripp...

The titan linkage is a right royal pita though. The new cable I bought had a different type of lead ending on each end. The barrel end had to be filed down to 6mm before it would fit in the linkage, that took 30mins of filing. Jenveys would have been far easier.

Ladies and Gentleman. A car is born!

We have a running engine, albeit lumpy, must be a Titan TB balance issue, or the cam sensor, dont really care at the moment.

She runs, it all works, no leaks, loads of black soot, and four hot manifold branches (though one is 10degC cooler than the others) so it could be duff injector. (The Zetec also first ran like a bag of nails until I balanced the Jenveys, so that'll be where I look first)

                          Halle'flipping'lujah!

Uploading the startup video to youtube in the next 30 mins.

Thanks for everyone's support. It paid off.
